Lipo charger and batteries

Hi,

Can anyone help in the following questions as new to lipo batteries

1) Can anyone recommend any good lipo battery charger with balancer?

2) I'm looking for some lipo batteries on the web and found that some batteries comes with balancer but some don't. Does it mean that I do not need a balancer for my charger?

Hi Xiaober,

It's better to get the balancer and charger separate instead of a 2-in-1 balancer charger because if one function is spoilt in 2-in-1 you are down with nothing to charge.

I am using the hyperion lithium balancer adapter and Prolux 1-3 cell charger without any problem, refer to this thread for the pics http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15211
Next time when you have the budget you can then get a lipo charger with LCD display and more functions (eg discharging and can charge other batt such as nimh) and can use the prolux as a secondary charger or field charger.

Lipos will get off-balanced after repeated charging/discharging so they must come with balancer tab (connector) for longer lifespan so you should always buy lipo that comes with balancer tab.

And do remember to take extreme caution when charging & using lipo. Please refer to the sticky threads in this section on precautions in lipo handling.
