Rear bearing rusted (not obvious in pic) after 4 gallons of CP 20%!?
Replaced with new bearing and did crankshaft mod .. will see how long the bearing last

Mine is also rusty after 3gallons+. In fact, I have been getting a very consistent 5gallon lifespan out of my bearings. I usually just change the bearing after around 5gallons, since they always come out rusty and notchy. I tried NTN japan, NSK and EZO, all japanese made bearings, but still same result. I am not using Coolpower though. My piston and ring always comes out shiny and clean, while my current plug has been around in the engine for almost 4gallons, so I guess my tuning is ok.
tried the ceramic or SS bearing they suggested at RR?
wanna see if crankshaft mod works so i replaced with original bearing (OS aka NTN..whatever)

Don't tell me you paid the $20 for the original bearings ah? I got NTN japan bearing from kian hoe bearing shop, 2 for $7.50. When buying ntn bearing do be careful, there is a NTN japan and a NTN taiwan. My thundertiger engine came with the taiwanese bearing. Difference between the two? I don't know, just the word japan sounds more quality
I wanted to try SS since they are quite cheap at local bearing shops, should be less than $8, but when I was at SLS bearing the other day, they don't have SS ones, so I just got the standard type. As for ceramics, I remember it wasn't cheap, but SLS also don't have.
There have been flyers in runryder reporting similar failure rate using the Stainless steel and ceramic bearing, but I think SS might be good for our humid climate.
yes i paid a premium price
didnt know where else to get bearing that operates beyond standard working hour..
btw, how did u shut the engine after the last flight of the day?
pinch the fuel line and let it run dry?
can manually shut the carb?

Besides pinching the fuel line and letting it run dry, did you apply "After-run" oil into the piston and bearings via removal of the backplate ? ....I remember this helped prevent rust in my 1/8 onroad car's engines inbetween outings (1-3 weeks) .....any periods longer than 1 month, I'll strip out the engine and do a through clean up !
