Elmod And Darkith For Hl

I believe some tankies here have had bought Elmod and Darkith IR Battle upgrades before.

What I would like to know are the differences and performance between Elmod and Darkith IR battle upgrades for Heng Long tanks?

I know Darkith is cheaper but is it comparable to Elmods?

So far, the battlegrounds here seems to be Tamiya's but anyone has gone out with a HL Elmod or Darkith mods and successfully battled out before? Are they stable and worth getting? The fact is even after getting Elmod's, it is still way cheaper than a Tamiya.

I think I can safely say that I am the only person that is using the Darkith circuit version 2 actively battling with other tamiya tanks out there.

I have also observed the el mod in action too.

1st, the DBC, while it gives the abilitiy to battle with tamiya/el mod circuits, it is not 100% fool proof. there will be times wheh the tank does something 'iffy', as in play the firing sound when you move steer the tank on the move and turn the turret at the same time.

Or when you fire the machind gun and turn the tank on the move it might shutdown the tank. Maybe these problems occur only to my circuit I wun know as the other DBC eqquipped tank out there is not ready to battle yet. I will test that tank out whne the time comes and see if the problems exist on that tank too.

Now for the El mod. These are much better circuits but if you go this route, I would suggest a full El mod circuit with drive train boards plus third party radio and not the ones that still uses the HL stuff for control. Although it will be expensive, but you are guaranteed a tank that will have full functionality with no issues when running.

But still if you goingto spend that much money on a tank, much as well get a tamiya as its fuss free after setting up, esp when you are thinking of battling as your priority.

When you say circuit version 2 are you referring to the DBC R2CHL? This circuit allows 3rd party radios and according to David, does not suffer from low voltage signals as in the past. May be David can shed a light or two on these "iffy" issues.

Are there only 2 tanks out there with Darkith IR battle systems here in singapore? Please let me know when you have tested the other tank.

As for the full Elmod gear, how much are we talking about???

I have checked their website and it appears the most expensive is the Drive Train module at Euro$109.60!!!

Where and when do you battle??? If I can make it to your battlegrounds, I would like to see both Darkith and Elmod in action with the Tamiyas.

Actually there shld be more ppl with DBCs out there. In fact I installed 5 sets in all for a friends selling them. 3 of which are the normal DBCs. And yes, the version 2 is the DBC R2CHL.

The problem about the el-mod set is that you will need a few modules to get 'full option' and 'battle ready' as in the drive train module, the cpu circuit and teh battle circuit. You also need the sound blaster which in all might cost you ard SGD$500-700 depends on what you get and where you get. So that is a lot of money so to speak.

If one is to spend that amt of money on top of the SGD$199 base tank(you can get cheaper online) much as well get a tamiya that will need less tinkering with, though you will need to put it together. But still some of the members in our clubs have had their tanks for over 5 years, with little to no damage or problems running.

If you are interested in the hobby but do not know if you wantto commit to it as in putting that amt of money just in case you do not stay for long in teh hobby, why not come down to one of our battle days. We should be having one this weekend at Marina square macdonalds at ard 11am till 4pm. That way you can see if this hobby is worth investing in or not your cup of tea.

Ya, Elmod is definitely very costly ... but may still be worth considering as just went to Stargek today and they are selling at S$1,300 for a 1/16 Tamiya Full option RC tank!

Also heard that one online store sells for S$700+, then Elmod no longer attractive at all. Need to check that out.

Have already sank in 2 HLs, and looking to upgrade to IR battle ready.

Would most likely pop up Sunday at Marina ...

Really I never realized that I have sold to a couple of guys in Signapore!

What are you interested in, I have there older stock and will be willing to go a little lower on a Prop Set! I don't have any of the sets that connect to the Heng Long board only prop and prop 6 sets! There are better in the long run you get rid of all the Heng long boards and just run EL MOD, no more burnt boards! I am saving the prop 6 sets right now! I can let go a Prop set for $ 375.00 USD or 574 SGD for a Christmas special, I have to check stock but I probably can only do 1 or 2 sets at that price!

The thing is star gek is the distributer in sg thus they have to sell it at the high price to protect their dealers. But at the same time , if you were to ship on from hong kong, I think I can get a sherman for SDG$700 shipped. Will have to confirm the price again as the exchange rate now is a lot different.

Of course even at that price you will still need to get a radio. Which could amount to 100-200 depending on where to get it from.
