    Old tamiya RC tanks

Hi, can anyone provide some advice on how to improve or "hop-up" (as some people call it) old tamiya tanks like the gepard? I don't really need any battle systems right now but just want to improve the longevity and durability of the tank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Old Tamiya RC Tanks

    Hi Violetmind,

It's been a long time since someone mention it.
I'm from RC Armour Battlion Singapore.(RCABS)
We like to know what tank did u own?
Gepard or Leopard 1? Our member,Tim, owns
a Leopard 1. If yours is the Gepard, it is rare indeed.
The motors & gears are control by a servo motor.
And the main turret does not rotates.

If you're interested, u can hop up your tank with
a Tiger I gear box, motors, DMD unit & speakers.
The DMD is a digital unit which controls all functions
of a tank. Example; Turret movement, firing, lights,
forward, reverse, turning when moving, etc.
You need to get at least a 4 channel controller
    for your tank.

If u like to know more, u can join us at rcabs.com
U can go to You Tube to view our recent war game
at Marina Square. Check under rcabs.

      Thanks Edmund,
I have a gepard on the way to me. Got it online recently but I've always wanted one when I was younger. When this one came along, I couldn't pass it up.

I have the intention to make the gepard turret rotate, radar rotate and guns move up and down but all with controls (as opposed to auto movement as the tank runs). But really don't know how to do it yet. I've seen a video of someone on the internet doing his gepard up the same way. Contacted the chap asking for some advice. But he replied to say it's too hard to describe to me so wished me good luck in finding my own solution.

I'll see how it goes. But in the mean time, I'll try to research some more.

If you see my other thread question, I'm also trying to find a suitable RC tank that I can use to model against a M60A1 tank. Basically, I'm trying to build an RC M60A1 tank but need to find a current RC tank with tracks, chassis and motor system that has similar dimensions to a M60A1. I'm quite loss there.

Anyways, enough rambling. Hope to get my stuff in order and I can try to meet with RCABS members. Hopefully soon.

How much does a pershing cost? Don't really think anyone would be willing to sell off a used one would they?
