BEC problem???

tot all "opto" labelled esc dont have inbuilt BEC.. it is for Jeti and CC optos

ok can confirm opto has no onboard BEC

As suspected, it might be ESC problem.

Used my 4 x AA cells rechargeable pack last Sat n ran the ESC wif boat successfully.

From my experience with boat ESC with BEC, it can burn out some components in the BEC due to high current draw from the motor. As to how it affects the BEC circuit - I don't really know. If the cell count is high, it may burn out some components in the RX as well.

For the RX, can do visual inspection of the components.
Some ESC are difficult to check b'cos of the multiple layers. But do check the output voltage of the BEC with some load.
