Want to compile a list of what would be the failures leading to a crash that happened to the pilots and their machines here.
Lemme start with my own bad experience:
- Twice, Plastic T-Hub gave way in mid flight during a recovery from inverted. (VoyagerE)
Mistake learnt: Never try 3Ding a stock electric heli setup when everyone else already said it cannot handle the stress...
- Wooden blades gave way at the blade grip area in mid-air (VoyagerE)
Mistake learnt: Always epoxy up wooden blade to the blade grips, even if it's a small heli.
- RX batt pack, spot welded contacts came loose. Loss of control (Freya90)
Mistake learnt: Do not bundle up your RX pack too tightly that can cause stress to the linkage points.
Heard of other failure stories, but would like to listen to first hand stories, and whether the pilots here think that their failures could have been thoughtfully/logically prevented.
