    RC Helicopter Failures

Want to compile a list of what would be the failures leading to a crash that happened to the pilots and their machines here.

Lemme start with my own bad experience:

    - Twice, Plastic T-Hub gave way in mid flight during a recovery from inverted. (VoyagerE)
Mistake learnt: Never try 3Ding a stock electric heli setup when everyone else already said it cannot handle the stress...

    - Wooden blades gave way at the blade grip area in mid-air (VoyagerE)
Mistake learnt: Always epoxy up wooden blade to the blade grips, even if it's a small heli.

    - RX batt pack, spot welded contacts came loose. Loss of control (Freya90)
Mistake learnt: Do not bundle up your RX pack too tightly that can cause stress to the linkage points.

Heard of other failure stories, but would like to listen to first hand stories, and whether the pilots here think that their failures could have been thoughtfully/logically prevented.

r50 canopy came loose while tic toc
canopy interfered with my elevator link-so that i can't control it anymore.
its going down and forward, it tilts the nose down more and more...
          slams into the groud

solution-find a better way to clip the canopy on.
by screwing the canopy mounting clip to the skids.

tail rotor bearing giving way and throwing the whole grip in flight
metal tail pitch slider unscrewing itself in flight resulting in wild piro

This is something very new I've heard of.
Would u like to elaborate on the problem?
Manufacturing flaw, or a recycled flybar that was chipped or being bent back?

probably due to age, high headspeed and rust. I am not too sure of the exact reason, but it was very old, 3years of rusting probably din do any good to it.

Interesting problem...but i guess that's due to negligence in maintainence?
Maybe it's time for some of us to inspect and replace some of our rusted push rods.

                    For me:

1)always buy electronics BASED on reccommended setups, that have been TRIED, TESTED and PROVEN.

                    2)Buy cheap, buy twice.

3)Always pays to invest in getting the right equipment to do the right job.
