This is most helpful. Hope to meet up sometime.

I'm still buiding the Trex500 (GF version). Flying Realflight 3.5 in the meantime. Do plan to get on to nitros / gassers by end 2009.

I liked the Vibe 50 in another thread and the online review was quite good. Final decision on make depends if Finless Bob has a build video and how much local parts cost. Otherwise I'll take the easy route and get a Trex 6x or 7x.

I'm thinking not to bling the bird but go heavy on electronics to shorten the learning curve. Also like the concept behind the CSM line of products as I like to tinker alot.

I am a newbie as well - my Trex 500 is still in the box. Spares part availability is the most critical. Main shaft, gears, tail shafts etc otherwise you can only spend time on your simulator.

If you are looking at CSM for flybarless.....my personal advice if go with at least an integrated 2 axis flybalress like SDK360 & probar , other wise go with 3 axis like VBAR, Gyrobot, ACX-3 and RONDO (TT)....

Trust me, there will be enough tinkering to do with flybalress .....the ultimate one is VBAR in terms of tinkering.

        flying

Hopefully you guys have better luck learning flying on SIM than me...when I started 5+ years back...I could fly on SIM at all. May be the SIM at that time is not realistic enough.

I could fly a heli better than on SIM when I started out...the key is tunning the heli.

Now I do use the SIM to learn and practise some move, more to understand the sticj movement and also orientation. But nothing beat a real heli. You can do a lot of things on SIM....but....

If blade 400 is a eccpm heli, your pin 8,9 and 10 must connect to all the three cyclic servos. But I believe you have already got this right, but good to double check.

I also assume you can fly with Beginner Mode=OFF and flybar=ON without any issue. correct?

What are the three setting on swash tunning for your beginner mode?

          Jonathan

Pin ten is used. I have been doing short hovers on Beginner Mode =off

setting beginner mode on, flybar with, angle 20, gain 400, override 60

            Hi Yoh Huat
I saw this on Helifreak about mounting gyros above the boom. Seems there is a danger from flybar or blade strikes in certain crash situations.

They suggest mounting below. Given the cost of the Gyrobot, might be worthwhile thinking about.

I've attached the link here for you.

            Cheers

              Thanks Ken,

Got to get it to behave in the beginner mode first so that I can try alternative position. I could wrap a piece of Aluminum bracket to protect it.

I did not go through the online but email with him and than send paypal for payment including shipping after he confirm the price. This was done initially as when the product was just available, their website is not ready to take international order also.

                      Jonathan,
Just look at the RCgroup just now and those guys in the US are also complaining about the sales tax charged. At 19% it is a little unfair.

I will be flying in Bishan today, of course with Gyrobot.
So if you drop by, we can take a look at your setup to figure if there is any problem.

Sorry, I don't have a flybar heli other than RJX which is too expensive for me to test it on.

why did you guys decide on gyrobot over others.

do you also know if v stabi has flight recovery like gyrobot and helicommand?

                            Jonathan,

Sorry I miss your message. I am commited on Sunday mornings and would not be able to join you. Is it at the field in front of the mosque and ITE?

I went to Bukit Batok and join the guys there. The same problem persists with beginner mode. I had to switch it off. I hover for a while and as usual make a silly mistake and I have broken blades, bent main and tail shaft, shreded gears, burnt elevator servo. Nothing unusual except that the hole in the pocket is getting bigger and bigger.

The link still indicate ver 1.02 software

I have been thinking about the oscillating which leads me to compare to excessive gain in tail gyro which causes tail wag.
I intend to reduce gain to 250 to see what happen. This I think will reduce the sensivity of the pitch and yaw gyros
