Do you know if its needs to change the software versions to choose between either beginner styles or is it a setting.

I'm very keen to get the Gyrobot 900 to accelerate the learning curve. Either that or the robbe helicommand rigid

      Ken,

The first firware version that I got for my Gyrobot is version 1.01 which do not have beginner mode.

In Dec the new version of firmware 1.02 with "real" beginner mode was released. These basically added addition menu option to on "swash basic setup" to turn on and off beginner mode.

The next release which should be real soon is version 1.03 that will have a "Acrobatic Beginner" mode added to the current "real beginner" mode. This my expectation is added another menu to the swash base to select.

All I need to do is upgrade my firmware from 1.02 to 1.03 which is less than 1mins job when I did from 1.01 to 1.02.

I know for a fact that on version 1.02 firmware that I have, if I select flybar ON, than the beginner mode and gyrobot is turn off...other than the Tail Gyro.

SO If you are learning using a flybar heli and want to use the Gyrobot with flybar, you can't today on version 1.02. Hopefully 1.03 allow you to do so. YOu can however use a flybarless heli and have beginner mode turn on with 1.02.

For me....the "real Beginner" mode on version 1.02 is a bit too restrictive for my flying style now....I found myself a bit retarted when I have it turn on cause it is slower in response as the GYROBOT is very tight in ensuing the heli is level.

I know I am looking forward to version 1.03.

You may be right about the swash base setting below 1000.

No binding on cyclic. I will try this weekend with new settings and without beginner mode. I am in China now and cannot give you the check it details.

Let you know when you come back from your holidays. Have a safe trip and enjoy!!
          Yoh Huat,

How is your exploration of the GYROBOT 900 ?

I did shift the swash plate limit and I got into trouble as it exceed the limit of the ball link. eg when I do an up elevator the swash will tilt backwards until the ball link hits the swashplate and become disconnected. So I had to still limit the swash movement.

I have not flown since. My suspicion is that the heli had to be absolutely horizontal when switching the receiver on so that the gyro can establish the a artificial horizon. Any slight tilt of the main shaft will cause an artificial slanted horizon and likely the gyrobot is trying to cause the heli to move towards this slanted horizon.

                Jonathan,

Actually the ver 1.02 which I am using allow for flybar or flybarless. In the swash tuning menu you can set for flybar and beginner mode on.

I am not sure if you are using beginner mode with flybar or flybareless heli. On beginner mode, you need to be very careful on making sure you turn it on a "flat" enough ground to get the "artifical" horizontal you are saying. That is why while you could switch from 3 config having one set to beginner mode, you should not do it while flying. As it might accidentally register a not flat swashplate and it will continue to adjust back to now not flat when ever no movement on stick.

If you show me some picture or describe what you are trying to do, I can guide you.

I am using beginner mode with flybar on a flybar Blade 400 heli. I had flown from a truck car park which is paved using concrete and that is as level as I can get without using spirit level. I had made sure my swash is set properly and absolutely perpendicular to main shaft. When I start the hover the heli start to oscillate as if I am moving my cyclic in a circular motion.

It is not steady that I can have a hands off like the video.

I see what you are saying now. I was wrong to say initially that you can not use beginner mode with flybar. Just check again and confirm you can do so.
I will see if I can give it a try.

When you say the heli oscillate, are you referring to the main blade virbating like the tracking is not correct? Or are you saying that the tail just keep spinning around?

Because there should not be any main blade oscillate as you are using flybar=ON and Beginner=ON , which effectively turn off gyro assist on cyclic (alieon and elevator). So you are only left with the tail gyro which act exactly like normal gyro ( but much better).

If you tail is the one that "oscillate" or spinning or waginng....than it is the tail issue. What is the tail servo yu are using and what is your "rudder base" setting on gyrobot and also the P and I on the rudder gyro ?

                          Ken,

I was wrong in my earlier comment. You can use Beginner mode ith flybar heli. I must have miss that out when I look at it two weeks ago before my vacation. Just check and confirm you can, and this is what Yoh Huat is trying to do.

I will see if I can help him and try it on my flybar heli.

The tail is perfectly steady. It is like you move the elevator/aeliron simultaneously in a circular motion putting the head downwards tilting to the left then back the right side then head down.

                              Hi Jonathan
This is most helpful. Hope to meet up sometime.

I'm still buiding the Trex500 (GF version). Flying Realflight 3.5 in the meantime. Do plan to get on to nitros / gassers by end 2009.

I liked the Vibe 50 in another thread and the online review was quite good. Final decision on make depends if Finless Bob has a build video and how much local parts cost. Otherwise I'll take the easy route and get a Trex 6x or 7x.

I'm thinking not to bling the bird but go heavy on electronics to shorten the learning curve. Also like the concept behind the CSM line of products as I like to tinker alot.

Looking at one of your 3rd picture...it seems like pin 10 is not used. But I believe it was only when you took that picture.

If blade 400 is a eccpm heli, your pin 8,9 and 10 must connect to all the three cyclic servos. But I believe you have already got this right, but good to double check.

I also assume you can fly with Beginner Mode=OFF and flybar=ON without any issue. correct?

What are the three setting on swash tunning for your beginner mode?
