broe juz a Q ar, everything seems good, 70% gain on lead tail pitch at 0deg center, it holds very well. but at times when i hover low and try to stay at dat one spot, the tail drifts abit to the left (clockwise)?? means tail-in heli turning clockwise dat i have to input bit of right rudder to correct the tl. seems at this point, the gyro can't determine the position or kept pushing the tail abit more to the left and hold it there. could it be my hs/pitch/pt curves? im ok wit it but it juz curios me. im on gov mode 0,80,80,80,80 35,45,50,75,100

A few questions if you don't mind ;)

Take a look at these instructions. They are from the heliproz website:

"""1. GAIN is indicated by the eight red LEDs when in operation mode - There is also a green LED labeled "TL" in the top left corner that indicates when the gyro is in TAIL-LOCK mode - Set the gyro gain ATVs to 0% then toggle the assigned gain switch to see if the TL LED is on in either position - If so then leave the switch in that position and adjust the gain channel SUB-TRIM so that the TL LED just goes off - Now adjust the ATVs between +/- 0% and 100% as this should match the actual gain of the gyro and the reason for the gyro selecting a radio brand? (^JR type^) -
      2. Gain indication of each of the eight red LEDs from left to right: 0-30% 31-40% 41-50% 51-60% 61-70% 71-80% 81-90% 91-100%
      3. This should actually match the % displayed in your radio's travel adjustment from 0% to 100%. """"

It seems to me that I am doing everything correct. Unless I should use the GYRO selection versus the GEAR selection in my Tx?

From what I understand, I should be able to solely use my gyro ATVs to adjust the gain percentages. I thought that I could select the GEAR channel setting versus that of GYRO channel on my DX7. Doing so inhibits the gyro sense function screen, leaving just the gear ATVs to play with.

After following the above instructions, I can flip between TL and rate mode when both gear ATVs are set to 0%. When I flip to rate mode (TL LED off), I can adjust my rate ATV (gain) to where it needs to be. When I flip the switch to TL mode, TL LED illuminates (again ATV is 0%) and the first of the 8 LED'S illuminates showing 0%. If I then increase the TL ATV (gain) the servo starts to rotate. The higher the value, the faster the servo rotates.

Maybe this is the source of the problem?

By "THIS" I meant, maybe the source of the problem is that I have the GEAR channel selected versus that of the GYRO channel?

You can of course correct me

ur curves seems ok, did u follow ammo's setup SOP if u did, just pump up the gain a little

i dont think it matters whether u are using the gear or gyro channel for setting gain or change modes. I am using both because some of my rxs dont have enuff channels to work with gyro sense on my JR tx.

just forget abt the setup procedure from the website u bought from and follow the setup procedure at the beginning of the thread. It has proved to work many times.

70% gain on lead tail pitch at 0deg center
what does this mean huh? <-- i mean the setup, sory typo, set the gain to 70% on the >>led<< wit servo arm and pitch slider link at 90deg so i would get 0deg for the tail pitch

ur curves seems ok, did u follow ammo's setup SOP if u did, just pump up the gain a little <--yes, a-z it's great, but as u know optic6 max 100% tx gain is only 70% gain on led
but it's ok lar, im juz curious by nature :P

after receiving my lt2100, got the TL setup immediately as i'm readin it

btw broe Razmo, im juz curious, y don't u use ur gyro sense ch to setup? by any chance mayb ur gear ch also transmit tiny rudder input dat it'll turn the servo? lol i don't know. try test by pluging ur gain wire in one of the cyclics and see does the gain adjustments from the cyclic stick/ATV move ur tail servo also. best is for u to goto ur lhs or meetup someone and test wit their rx/tx...

hmm how many KV is that elf motor.... if it is 3500KV then.......

                          3500*.9*11.1*10/150*.8= 1864 only

                          if 4000KV
                          4000*.9*11.1*10/150*.8= 2131.... also v low...!

bro think u can change the pinion to 11 or 12 t

                            OKAY... I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!

It has nothing to do with the GYRO or my setup. For some reason my Rx doesn't want to initialize right away at times. This I haven't yet figured out. I'll have to put a call into Spektrum tomorrow. I've tried numerous things but can't find a trend.

When the Rx initializes right away, I can adjust either the TL ATV or the Rate ATV without any problems. It's pretty nifty because my ATV percentage matches that of what the GYRO gain is reading.

When the Rx does not intitalize right away and I try adjusting the ATV's, the tail servo starts to rotate. This happens whether I'm adjusting the TL ATV or the RATE ATV.

So, If anyone can tell me why my Spektrum Rx doesn't always want to initialize right away, I'm all ears

broe johndyl, that dat at JB u mention abt getting this LT 100% HH on lead using optic6 though you can't remember. I went back and mess around with the settings again, I manage to get it 100% on the LT last led using my optic 6, but wan't sure if this is your same method.

                              1) INH the GYRO
                              2) REV the CH5
                              3) Set EPA CH5 to 125%

By using GYRO INH, CH5 reversed, I can use the EPA to set the gain from led 1 to last. But then I lower it down due to tail springing. But are these your findings? Or u can already recall by using GYRO 100% itself?
