    lipo question

I have my 2 cell Lipo battery

It seems 1 cell is on low voltage, and the other is fine .

Tried to balance charge, but charger kept indicating " low volts " and refused to charge ?

Is there any way I can charge the low voltage cell ?

And is this battery still safe to use ?

    Hi there PandaGold
Yah most RC chargers are not smart enough to rescue LV LIPO packs so be careful. Some of them will even allow to charge and cause you safety problems.
Come in and see us at Depot rd (www.revolectrix.com) and I'll try repair it for you FOC. Simple job but you need the right equipment.

      Pre-Qualification Charge

Your charger did not comes with the Pre-Qualification Charge ability.

Constant Current Charge at 0.1C for a maximun of 90 mins or until the cell voltage recover to 3V and terminate charge whichever comes first. then you can use your regular charger to charge the lipo and balance it.

If above did not recover the cell voltage to at least 3V, then the lipo is defective. In most cases for single cell problem of the multitudes of cells, the lipo is most likely defective.

You can built a simple constant current charger using LM317. Goggle the web, if you are interested.

Alternatively buy a quality battery from John of Revolectrix.

Good Luck with the experiment. Take up John offer, though.
