    Charger questions

    dear all gurus,

my friend have charger(PULSAR) with a matching of batteries function.

to my understanding this function will match all your batteries to equal amps, correct me if i'm wrong.

    the question here is :-

    a) how often one have to do matching?

    b) at how many amps?

    c) one do matching after charging or discharging or before both?

    please advise.

    enjoy.

Why the questions? I am serious because is batt/amp matching critical for heli flying. Match batt cells is more critical for EP cars.

    Cheers

      abang,

u know why people climb Mount Everest?

      because it is there lah.

well, i tried matching my batteries the other day and i realised my heli have a better cyclic power which i never felt before.

u should try lah, just to confirm.

      enjoy.

        Bang,

Here is the simplified battery matching explanation.

Same brand and model of cells does not perform exactly the same. Some can take in charge and discharge faster than other. And their capacity is also slightly different.

For flight pack, it is good to match them as well, the battery voltage will stay more constant.(good for your cyclic)

Normally, matching is done before building the pack. Every cell should be cycled a couple of times to measure the charge/discharge characteristic at the operating amps. In this case 2 amps should be enuf. The cells with similiar characteristics are than built into packs. For Rx pack, once matched, the drift after that is very little or hardly any. For EP cars after a few solid runs, the pack is either discarded or rebuilt.

I hope your questions are answered.
