Balancing 2 X 2S or 2 X 3S lipo pack

Hi,
I am a new comer to lipo, and are now looking for a suitable charger. However in my brushless set up , I am required to run either 2 x 2s or 2 x3s pack in series . My question is , is it really necessary to balance the 2 pack as 1 single pack in order for it to be connected in series. Have found some charger like the hyperion duo that can do it. But they are quite expensive.

Is there any way I can do away with balancing 2 pack, so that i can get a cheaper charger?

I use the BC6-10. I've been charging 2 3s in series. Works quite well. I highly recommend it. I believe it can do 1,2 and 3 2s in series, but I've never charged any lipos that way.

Hi, bro i'm using Cellpro 10s charger n charging 2x 2s & 3s packs n will soon b charging 5s packs as soon as i can get the balancer tabs. very good charger. no need for the hassle of programming the current/voltage of charging yr lipos. the charger will automatically detect yr lipos n set the charge values.

i using turnigy accucel-6. i have brought this twin cable below. it will connect 2 x 3s as those it a 6s lipo and be balanced charged.

i believe it can be used in other charger as well. but dun quote me. i might be wrong.

I recommend RCE. It's in orchard plaza on the 3rd floor. I got my Bantam charger over there. He spent the time to explain very clearly what I needed to do to charge the batteries in series. It's always seems complicated when you've never done it before.

I got a 2 x 3s y balancer cable from Jethobby and attempted to charge 2 x 3s packs on the Imax BC6. I plugged the 2 packs to the y cable and the other end to the charger's 6s balancer port. However when i plugged the output to one of the packs, i heard a tiny zap from the charger and then of cos a slight burnt smell........... I turned off the power immediately and let the smell settle for awhile. I turned it on again and tried charging single packs of 2s and 3s and he charger seems to be working fine? Anything that I should look out for in case I did really damage something internally?

Also can anyone tell me what I have done wrong? Is my connection wrong? I believe many bros have successfully charge this config on the B6.

both the deans y cable n the balancing y tab cable must be plugged into the right polarity of the lipos.
If u got a burnt smell, very likely u got sorted the lipo pack

Btw did u ask Moh for the correct method of connecting both lipos together?

The burnt smell came from the charger........I managed to check and balance the 2 packs which I connected by charging them individually and they seemed fine.......btw what are the symptoms of a shorted pack?

I jus bought the cables from him only assuming that its the same procedures as my DN power charger....apparently not cos it the DN power charger only required me to plug and lipo's balancer cables to the charger's balancer ports to charge......whereas he B6 requires to plug both the balancer cable as well as the ouput cable.

Apparently I realise from the Quantifly blod that I need 2 output to connect to the individual packs when doing a 2 x 3s or 2 x 2s......silly me.....

ok. Thanks. I will probably bring it to Moh to check out if I had damaged the charger and also the polarity of the connectors cos I now abit phobia to try liao.......
