    DSX9/X9303 Tx Batt.

Hi, i just recently purchased my DSX9!
I was wondering whether it is possible to use Li-Po's as my tx pack, as the provided
Ni-Cd is only 1100mAh, which doesn't provide much flight time.
It states quite clearly that the transmitter is designed to operate using a 9.6V pack, so are there alternatives to up my power?
I have read in other forums that old and used 3S (12.6V) LiPo's make
very good Tx Packs which give over 10hrs of flight. PLUS there is no memory effect with the batt.
I don't want to void my warranty nor do i want to damage my transmitter. Please advise..

Anybody using 3s packs on spektrum tx's?

Fully charge your Ni-CD pack and test the voltage. If it hits ard 12.6v den its safe to replace with a 3S Lipo pack. Do remember to use low discharge packs such as 10C or 12C. A fully charge 3S lipo is ard 12.6v.

Yep, can use a 3S lipo pack for the transmitter. I’m using an old ThunderPower ProLite 3S 2100mAh in my JR 9XII, vary good run time.

okay, i will test my batt. before using. I was worried about just throwing a 3s pack as the manual did say that spektrum products cannot work over a certain voltage and may cause a malfunction in the tx as the voltage regulator is designed to work at 9.6V.

What about spektrum users? anybody tried?

Do be extra carefull. I know someone burnt his DX7 after putting in a lipo. However, I don know the details. So, good luck....

I have my new DSX9 too, i wouldnt take the risk now.

I'm using a 3S lipo in my Spektrum DX3.0. No problems at all.

            A fully charged 8 cell would also give u 1.5V x 8pcs = 12V

The spektrum uses a lot less power than the PCM TX, thus one full charge of my DX7 can last quite a while. Perhaps U should just use the new TX as it is, why modify so soon.

Caution to all using LIPO for TX. Do not wait for the low battery alarm on the TX. The duration after a full charge is so good that I forgotten totally . My TX shutdown in the middle of my flight and my R50 go into fail safe, throttle kill....Luckily I have fail safe set to kill engine.....So now I have install a LIPO alarm, Blue LED and beeper. .....

yup, i won't modify or use lipo first, i am just quite irritated with the fact that they provided only a 1100mAh NiCd battery, whereas my previous tx, dx7 had a 1500mAh NiMh battery which is much better.
to JR for that.. So, anybody using the dsx9 can tell me how long the batt. can last? i know the dx7 lasted about 6 hrs straight ..

                    Thanks

I re-set it to 10.5V just to be safe.....The voltage dropped to 10.4V last weekend and there is no cutoff so I decided to set it to 10.5V....
