Can Upgrade Nimh 8 cells to Lipo 3 cells?

Changed to a new thread about Lipo, Cos I noticed that my brushed motor and 8.4v speed controller for my electric heli can be comfortably powered by my NiMH 9.6v (8 cells) at 11.56v peak… Does that mean I can get those thunder power 11.1v lipo 3 cells but not those Kokam 12.6 v 3 cells ? Really like to convert to Lipo due to weight issues. , Please help to advise…whether it is possible?

3 cell lipo when fully charged has a voltage of 12.6V . The unloaded voltage is over the spec for ur electronics... so to be on the save side you might not want to take tt risk
