    Question on the TP-205 balancer.

    Hi guys,

Just a question, when the battery is connected to the balancer, are the status lights only supposed to come on for 5 secs then all go off? I plugged my lipo to the balancer and all the status lights appeared, showing a balanced status then they went off after 5 sec. This is a new balancer bought today. Thanks for the help!!!

What's the meaning of both the yellow LED and the buzzer sound every 30 secs without any cell LED light up?

When is the best time using this smart balancer? after flying? before flying? during charging?

      Thanks.

Not sure on those warning message as I also new to TP205.

For the usage, if you want best best care on your battery, you can do the balance before and after charge. else I believe balance after charge will be good and once a while do before and after charge.

Go thing to do before and after is the charging of a balanced pack will ensure all Cell are charge at the same way unless your cell it self already bad. Else the fully charged pack should have very "balance" if you have done balancing before charge.

do share your finding on those warning message. The manual simpe user NOT friendly. No manual can match Japanese product in the past, so detail!! now all are one page manual with little reference.. can't complaint when we want it cheap as well

I found the balancer not doing anything if you plug it to the battery after flying as the cell drop below 3.2v (depends on your ESC cut-off, I set mine 2.9v).

There is a long discussion about TP-205 below.

Tried reading that and get more blur liao

BTW, are you connecting your balancer during charging?

I don't as I do not know how well that will function. also it is not that difficult to do balance after full charge.

Do share your experience if you have done with charging and balance at the same time.

what i do is leave the balancer on the pack when i charge it...but make sure charging is at low amp....so that any excessive current to the cells can be bleed by the balancer....that way, there should not be any chance of over-charging any of the individual cells in the pack....

                  have fun......

I just tried to balance the battery after flying, seems the balancer not active balancing the cells as compare to during charging and when the battery fully charged.

Like the previous reply it depends on how deep discharge you have done. For me, I try not to discharge the pack to too low. I typically set my LVC at around 3V/cell and most of the time I only used up around 70% of the capacity and have lots of safety margin. BTW, I also use higher capacity pack instead

Just got the balancer not long ago and have a few tried on pre and post balance. so far ok.

For balancing while charging, what is the maximum allowable charge current? Anyone know this? The TP205 do not generate that much heat so I assume the discharge current is very min.

I thought should be from 300mA to 1C

Hi muah, when you say low, how low it should be?
                          Thanks.
