Nice. I've always liked the outline of the Seafury. Very macho. Is this a design for electric or glow power? Any stats eg. wingspan, wing area, weight. What do you intend to power it with?

Unfortunately, with the flood aof cheap ARFs these days from China, the art of building, especially from scratch is slowly dieing out. Glad to know that there are still people around building from plans. Looking forward to your posts on the build.

thanks for ur support Mr tony. actually u and stuka kinda inspired to get off my butt and start a project.
well this is a 40~46 size glow powered.. 50" wingspan 42" fuse(cowl -rudded tip). not sure about the weight...i'll have to see as i go along . as for power i am not sure yet might got back to my faithful TT46pro budget constraints although a saito or an OS would sound real sweet . see how it goes heh. according to the plan they use a lot of thin ply so i am gonna replace it with balsa. ma fave part in this hobby is the building process but hate the finishing process so i'll have hell in finishing it mauahaha.

Great to hear that we have yet another modeller starting on building from scratch. Hopefully, we'll get more people to start building too once they see that its actually not that difficult to build a plane. To me, building is half of the fun of this hobby, the other is of course the flying. Hope you have much fun putting your creation together and looking forward to reading your posts.

Absolutely agree.. ...building is 1/2 the fun...and u get to have fun even if it rains..

Great choice raghfrost, rare bird esp in the 40-size range. Love the stance of the sea fury as well as its cousin the hawker tempest, which looks a bit like the sea fury except that it has a large intake duct underneath the cowl.

In case u havnt been informed, NTC sells 4ft x 1ft lite ply board for around $20 (birch ply is more expensive) per piece. They were chucked at one corner, I didn't realize until jariah told me.

Enjoy your building, and do keep the pics coming...very important!

and a short story for newbie...

The Sea Fury was the British Fleet Air Arm's last piston-engined fighter. It was a development from the Hawker Tempest, itself a development of the Hawker Typhoon. The Typhoon and Tempest exemplified the wartime trend towards bigger and heavier fighters, and the design of the Fury was centred around the attempt to counteract this trend.

The Fury made its first prototype flight in February 1945, but the first production aircraft - a Mark 10 - did not make its initial flight until September 1946. The earliest Mk 10's had four-bladed props, but those of all later Furies were five-bladed.

The Mark 10 was approved for carrier operations in Spring 1947, and five Fleet Air Arm squadrons were then equipped with the Sea Fury.

The Mark 10 was followed by the Mark 11 fighter-bomber - 615 of these were eventually delivered to the Navy. It became the Fleet Air Arm's principal single-seat fighter and remained so until the introduction of the Sea Hawk jet fighter in 1953.
