Basic Info on Pylon Racers

Hi,

The organiser's intention is to attract as many types of aircraft as possible, not just the devilish fast speed racer that we saw 2 years ago. The target audience is different this year.

No no for standing on runway and then hand launch.


Fuse, you may want to explain which rule is silly? We may be able to improve upon it.

Nope, I'm sorry. I'm tied up with work this year and have to give it a miss.

I understand the intention of the organizers. If the race it going to be like what we did 2 years ago, I think eventually, it'll be only a race between the same few pilots for the years to come. There aren't many pilots like the JW style here anyway.

Here is another suggestion...

Based on the more popular models that most folks fly....you could probably break the pylon race into various classes so that its a real test of pilots skill rather than pure brute power..

Eg:

1. SLow Stick class - Jus limit overall plane weight to 300 grams.
2. E starter class - Limit plane weight to 600 grams.
3. Formosa class - Limit plane weight to 800 grams.
4. Funjet Class - Limit plane weight to 1kg

Essentially you set it up with the most popular planes in that period of time.

I think in doing this it will encourage more people to take part in the various classes and hopefully get more people in total. I think I would be pretty intimidated if I did not who or what I was flying against. Imagine bringing my Evo X to Sepang and the next guy brings his GTR with quad turbos

By constraining the type of planes and the overall weight....pilots are forced to compete in a more even keel as it limits power (weight of battery and motor). Than True skill will be needed to navigate the course in the most efficient manner.

Hope the organisers can consider this for the next race...
