yeah pylons are the way to go.

      small sleek and fast.

      example the VIP, sokol, vodoo
i'm a rc sotong. And i know nuts about it.

what planes have you flown before?
pylons are the way to go because of their aerodynamic design you fly them fluidly and efficiently and not by brute force. And it's nice to hear the swish sound. But they are quite hot to land as you normally cannot set flaps for them as they mostly use one servo for ailerons.

This is my humble sokol, it is a good pylon but I'm out of stock but I do have dynamic 400

Or you can try one of the 'advanced' IFO/Firefly from one of the local hobby shops. They can be one fast RC kite to deal with if matched with 3cell brushless setups & 1147 props.

sounds cool... where can a pylon racer locally?

anywhere where you are confident of flying it & landing it safely
we fly at bedok reservoir field (behind the mosque) check this thread http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/show...8&page=1&pp=15 but if you want bigger airfield JW, Woodlands, RMS will be more ideal.

And if you dare, you can fly during monsoon wind season at bedok reservoir slope it will be shiok to see the pylon cutting thru the wind & hear the swish sound & put your airframe to the limit when you dive downwind but landing a small pylon on a slope without spoilers is a real challenge

now I know BR refers to Bedok Reservoir!

                            btw, the sentence:
sounds cool... where can _____ a pylon racer locally?
the missing words are "I get", not "I fly" (I really didn't notice i missed out those words in my post! very sorry about that )

                            thanks for the info anyway

How about MicroJets/Twinjet from Multiplex. I am thinking of getting 1 but dunno if ishould go for BL or Brush motor. Read from somewhere it's difficult to launch with Brush. but it's a very fast plane.
