unless you wanna spend that kind of money, it's better to invest in a desktop drill press that mounts an electric hand held drill.

      .

and also get a set of titanium coated drill bits, they have a lower coefficient of friction than HSS bits so they last longer and transfer heat away faster as alu tends to welds to the bits at high temperature.

also invest in a bottle of alu cutting fluid, this will make drilling aluminum a breeze.

      Bro,

Where to buy this kind drill press in SG?
      Thanks!

around $50+ in those "real" hardware shop, mostly around industrial area.
i know Rochor center level 1 selling, Simlim tower B1 maybe.

else visit homefix or other branded hardware store with big showroom,
the price tag will also be diff.

I bought mine from Homefix. SLT B1 hardware shop has one on "display". Homely in Eunos Cresent has 2 different models. The cheaper type tend to "rock" with lots of play.

                Hi,

Proxxon had something like dat, more solid and rigid.

                Check this out http://shop.sgtooling.com/index.php?...&productId=240

You can also add on a XY table to do milling.

                See attached catalog

                Thanks

                    Hi Jake,

unless you need a really big router, desktop size off the shelf cnc might be a better option to go. it will save you a lot of time for custom parts for diy and headache on how to assemble it. Frankly speaking a diy router cost may end up more expensive then a off the shelf ready to use unit.
