Increase Your DX7 Battery Life with simple Soldering skills.
Swap the stock Linear Voltage Regulator for a more efficient Switching Voltage Regulator.
The Spektrum 2.4Ghz module runs off 3.3v but the DX7 uses 8 x 1.5v AA batteries or a 3S Lipo pack.
The stock voltage regulator converts the ~12v down to 3.3v for the 2.4Ghz module. As Linear Voltage Regulators are inefficient the excess current from the voltage conversion is given off as heat.
With a more efficient Switching Voltage Regulator, less current is converted to heat which means an increased battery life.
In fact, I have not charged my 2200mah TX Lipo after 30+ hours of usage. That's more than 120 flights!
