    Flight of the Avenger

    Hi guys,

Jus to share a short video clip of the avenger taken last week end by a one of the nice fellows at OHR last weekend.

There was a moderate cross wind blowing from the right side of the aircraft when it was coming in to land.

Hope you guys enjoy the vid.

    Cheers

Bro, very nice. Should re-do the runway in the shape of a WW2 carrier flight deck and put an arresting hook on your Avenger. Double the fun!

Thanks bro, the runway already in the shape of carrier- more like escort carriers. Arresting hook... hmmmm- sound fun, something to tinker on.

Hope to see u soon at the field.

      Cheers

Impressive demo of a precise landing given how much you offset to line up and land .

Real carriers will turn into the wind to reduce the cross wind something which we can't do as easily.

Thanks bro, precise landing only once in a while. Most of the time overshot or miss the runway altogether.

            Coooool!!

            Hi tboltsg,

Wow, what a short take-off, your Avenger virtually leapt off the 'deck' :>

Is that a scratchbuilt plane? What's it's wing loading?

Nice, skillful landing too, considering the cross-wind. The USN would be proud to sign you up. :>

Besides putting 5 arresting cables (I think it's 5 right?), maybe can rig up the 'deck' to shift with the wind, just like in the Pepsi World-Cup advert.

Anyway, here's to your next successful 'trap' of the third wire. Cheers!
            ... It's in the Details... :>

              Hi Crafter,

Thanks for the kind comments. it is a scratch build- didn't do the math on the wing loading- wing span abt 1.35m, AUFW ard 900+grms, so i guessed the wing loading should be somewhere between a gws beaver and gws corsair??

Not done the arrestor hook yet but done an upgrade with retracts and flaps- it was quite a sight to see the landing gears deployed and flaps down during the landing approach- well at least to me.

Glad u like the short clip.

              Cheers

The Flight of the Bumble Bee before becoming the avenger.

Landing on grass before the carpet runway was laid.

                Cheers

                  Cool landing man! Very nice.

Is it a Hellcat or an Avenger? Looks more like a Hellcat.

                    Hi etman,

It an Avenger made by Grumman which also manufacture the Hellcat, so it is often confused as it look kinda of similar.

Glad that u like the clip.

                    Cheers
