Radio Control Scale 2009 - Official Results, Photos and Videos

Finally, after months of planning, meetings and preparation, RCS 2009 ended yesterday evening with a huge blessing from the weather man.

With much anticipation and contingency plan to cater the recent spat of monsoon, we were blessed with absolute perfect sun shine for both days. In fact, the sun was so strong that most of the officials and participants were literally "baked" till as red as lobsters.

Before I proceed with the results, I would like to summarise the entire participation list. The number of entries submitted before the static judging day were as follows:

    Stand-off Scale Category
    13 aircrafts

    Masters Scale Category
    10 aircrafts

    Helicopter Scale Category
    10 helicopters

However, very unfortunately, quite a number of the aircrafts and heli were crashed before the event while having practice flights, in particularly a huge FW 109 and P-51 Mustang.

Some aircrafts were not being able to be completed on time due to unforeseen circumstances and a few helicopters were unable to take part due to crash or last minute overseas travelling.

Nevertheless, we received a total of 21 entries on static judging day:

Before I continue with the story, photos and videos attachment, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to those who made this RCS 2009 a huge success:

    William Sng - Contect Director

William, himself a modeler, agreed to my request to be the CD for both days despite his busy schedule, to help me run the event in terms of the flying sequence, ensuring all the participants are in time to prepare their flying routing. Under the sorching sun to coordinate between the judges and contestants to make sure that no unnecessary delays, ensuring that the whole event is running smoothly. He also constantly reminded all spectators to be clear of the danger zone, acting as a safety coordinator himself. A well experienced CD overall. Tough job but executed perfectly. Well done William.

Jacky Ng -Asst Contest Director / Score tabulator
A modeler himself as well, Jacky proved to be an invaluable assistant to William in ensuring that the event is in smooth running gear. Running around under the hot sun to co-ordinate between William and myself, its no easy job to ensure that all officials are well aligned. After the completion of the flying, Jacky spent almost an hour tabulating the scores, while all he participants waited patiently and eagerly to know how well they did. A very intensive job in calculating the scores, and tabulated excellently. Thank you Jacky and great job.

The Judges: Tony Chang (Chief Aeromodelling Instuctor, SYFC), Yap Jiun Yi (Chairman, BBFC) and Oliviero Diegoli (Chairman, PPFC)
Sitting under the bright sunshine, awarding scores to all the flying rounds as well as spending over more than 3 hours performing static judging on Saturday, a judge's life is no easy task by any means. Of course, seeing many planes and heli flying must have been urging them to wanting to fly themselves, but they all executed their duties as judges perfectly. Their experience will definitely prove to be invaluable for next year's RCS. Thank you gentlemen.

Simon, callsign RX300 - Transmitter Impound
With so many users of 2.4 it may seem to be unnecessary to impound tx but we are not taking any chances. The cost, time and effort to build these planes and heli are great investment and we will undetake all steps to ensure there's no frequency interference, regardless of 2.4 or not. An excellent job by Simon in controlling the collection of the participant's tx. An important job for safety control.

    Najee - MC
Providing commentary during the lunch time demo, vendors introduction, lucky draw and prize presentation ceremony, Najee covered the event like a pro though he did mentioned to me that he will want to take part in next year's event. We look forward to it Najee, but you still need to be the MC cos' you the man with the mic. Thanks Najee.

Eugene Chua and Moky - Our camera man
Covering every single details of the entire event, Eugene and Moky were not spared of the sorching sun as well as bearing the weight of their equipment. Thank you Eugene and Moky.

Derrick Kee - Our man in the Potong Pasir Youth Club committee
The man executing the perfect coordination with Potong Pasir Youth Committee the arrangement of the trophies, lunch catering, banner making, tentage and countless effort sprucing up the site. Time to start our next project Derrick...marvelous job.

To all the club members of PPFC, whom have spent countless effort in sprucing up the flying site to prepare for this event, cutting grass (now we know those grass cutter's job ain't easy!), clearing the space, putting up banners, cut more grass, again more grass......beautiful job guys...

Last but not least, to all the vendors and sponsors:
    Aerosmith Hobbies
    Horus Hobby
    Jet Hobby
    Heli Guru
    RC-Sports
    Singapore Hobby
    SG Tooling
    Sky Hobbies
    RC Warbirds
    Leisurewerx

This event would not have been so successful without all your generous sponsorship and support. Your participation in RCS made THE difference. A very sincere "thank you" to all.

To all others who have contributed in making this event the talk of the town. My sincere apologies if I may have left out mentioning your name, a BIG "Thank you" to all your efforts and contribution. You have made it a success.

    Thank you

    Henry Chua
