        haha, cause the black hawk was shot by a anti tank missile which instantly damaged it's tail rotor blades

              oh yea....RPGs well cant blame the heli for bwing lousy they are still the military best way to transport soldiers to the field

                In Single main rotor with tail rotor helicopter, the most weakest link is in the tail rotor. If tail rotor gone, u practically lost control (Same thing on our R/C).

                The blackhawk can easily shot down on the "Black Hawk Down" movie and real event is because the RPG hit the tail rotor and thus damaging the tail rotor assembly.

                If it is just a bullet that hit the tail or main rotor blades, it is still survivable.

                That is why maybe Comanche chooses to use Fenestron tail instead. I believe fenestron tail will have better survivable chances than normal tail rotor if hit by RPG.

                BTW, look carefully on the picture above... there is one picture showing that a bullet hit the main rotor bladed linkages and it is almost break into 2. If that happen, the situation maybe even worse.
