Thanks Lee, I note that you have one of my planes a UF PC-9 great plane in fact all the UF planes are good I have a SU-27 flies real great. If I do not make it today I will join you next weekend.
Alright man....welcome to the UF club. It will be great to see your SU-27. Thought of getting the UF F-16 but rather expensive. Actually, I just bought this used PC9 recently at $30 only...and comes with 3 servos as well.
I have tried the mushroom BM2408-21 with 7060 prop...very fast but this motor gets hot very fast n i assume it does draw high amp. Also tried BM 2410-12 with 9070 but not that impressive in term of speed.
This afternoon, mounted my new powerhouse Axi 2212/26 and it feels great. Prefer using 1100mah 3s with 8060 0r 9070. 1700mah 3s need to use 9070. I think Axi 2212/20 will be pefect for fast speed...eying for used one. RTF weight is about 450g.
How about your SU-27? What's the power config.? Must be super fast and able to perform special maneuvers.
My PC-9 had the A/24/20 for the first flights and then due to a minor mid air accident I switched to a AXI 2208/26 as the original motor stick was broken. The UF A series motor was more powerful but the AXI eats less Amps and gives almost the same performance, I can get 10 minutes on a 1,500 mA pack. I have a pilot friend who does aerobatics and he has flown the PC several times and it sure can do everyting even knife edges. The secret that I found was not to have to much throws on the control surfaces it becomes a violent animal then.
As for the SU this was imported from the USA and has a UF D/13/32 motor and requires a 2,000 mA pack, I had Steven Wong do the maiden the other week and it sure flies nice very stable, quick and rolls really fast. We had to terminate the flight as one of the engine pods came loose no damage, but I shall never use double sided sticky tape again regardless of what the destructions say.. All fixed now with a small modification so that each pod is held by two small screws. I am not a lover of hand launching least of all pushers with a swinging knife at the rear so another modification is the fitting of u/c. very simple and very light so that should prove interesting for the next frights...
I did a thread on the build of the SU-27 which you may find interesting..
As you will have gathered I like UF models they are just good quality and reasonably priced ... I was a bad man (again) and ordered the UF Ultimate biplane from the USA which has just arrived lol just beautiful....
