DIY low voltage alarm for 3S Lipo

    Got to share this.

Only four components, one IC, two resistors, and a LED. I've just assembled it and tested the LED will turn on at about 9.6v.

Here's the completed alarm and the circuit diagram.

    question ?

just asking, but wouldn't this add additional load to the batt ?

saw one product in a LHS, ask about it and the sale said it will suck
power from the batt, resulting in shorter flight time

Its a Great day, lets fly, crawl, and fight.

        2cell lipo

What do I need to change for this to work on a 2 cell lipo?

        cheers.

Replace 510Kohm with 820Kohm, the rest remained the same. The low level triggering voltage would be ~6.2V for 2 cells lipo.

            Where to Buy the IC?

Can any one tell me where the IC is available and how much it cost?

Where is the IC commonly used? Do you think tv, video electronic etc use them?

            Cheers.

You can buy the IC from Sim Lim Tower third floor, around $1.6 per piece(I think). For additional info, check out the link posted by Super-Hornet.

              Cheers.

                  Hi gEcky,
The shop can be seen from the escalater. Something like corner shop.
Can not remember the shop name/unit.
                  Hope this help.

                    Thanks Vincopter!

I'll be more thick skinned and do a price survey the next time i go to SLT.

Btw, does this ckt have prob of motor sucking all the current away from the LVD and end up the LED very dim? (Assuming the circuit is coonected in parallel with the ESC)

The ckt is connected in parallel from the battery. It draws about <10mA with the LED on. Try once on my heli, it works. But at 9.6v is abit high, assuming 3.1v per cell. Going to try some mod, maybe add a trim pot for fine turning the tripping voltage.

sorry, i know nothing about elec stuff,
but i can do very simply soldering,
want to made one lvd for my 3 cell,
                            have a question.

                            can i use a icl8211 inplace of the max8211 ?
i only diff i know is that the voltage range is diff.

                            icl8211

                            max8211

                            thanks

I've been using the icl chip for about week now. So far no problem.
