Castle Creation BEC Pro v2 failure due to poor soldering

V1 had a recall because it will blow out, allowing full voltage from the batt to pass through. I.e. if you are using 6S or 12S, your Rx are servos will burnt.

They replaced with v2, after multiple complaints.

Now v2 comes with output wires soldered on a surface mount PCB. They then solder a large diode across the outputs. The 4 output wires are "securely" held in place by the casing. Due to the poor soldiering, the output wires will loose contact from the PCB, but held in place by the casing. So the BEC will continue to work, making the aircraft/heli to appears as suffering from occassional glithes. Crashed my plane twice because of these momemtary lost of control.

Upon troubleshhoting just now, i cut of all my zip ties to check connection, only to realise all 4 output wires of the BEC are totally sheared at the PCB. They simply drop off at the PCB when i lifted the BEC.

The BEC cost more than a $100. Really amazing CC gives this kind of poor quality product.. I did a search on the web, I am not the only person reporting this same failure for v2 BEC PRO.

If you are using one, please routinely check it for soldering failure at the output wires. Best, junk it and replace with some other method for safety sake, or if your soldering skills are good, redo it.

So far so good on my 90 though..

Mine worth less than S$49 from SH & V2. Flown 50over flights on my 90 Compass 7HV so far & quite pleased stepping down from 50V right down to 7.5V to drive all my servos, receivers etc. Tied down wires so that they won't move.

Otherwise it is indeed a valued BEC but make sure it's V2....

WOw now is the season of BEC explosion is it... i also just tio like last week only.. happy happy buy one brand new trex700.. then before that buy one 150 dollar BEC thought it looks cool then so expensive must be good..

fix up, activated less than 3 times.. as i was doing settings for Castle and align 3gx... then suddenly smell something. straight away plug out i thought **** bec spoilt.. i still happy there thjink bec only.. knn later go home check total dmg..

          Align 3GX --- Died
          Align 650 --- Died
          Align 610 --- Died
          JR 921 Receiver --- Died
          Align 3gX --- Died

basically the only things that didnt die are those not connected to bec with is the esc and motor..

Thanks bro Xuen7. Well, I would deem the burnt out Hyper HV BEC Quasar (GSR-7075) earlier that u had is good unless there is a polarity sudden switch or sparks. They're pretty concern if CCBEC Pro V2 in this case that costs a fraction of a price of whether it would perform as norm.

PS: Frankly, if everything works same & as normal, I will never spend that kind of extra double or three times the money for an item that still produces same result. Similarly, I would not even use top equipments if a basic one that costs a fraction proves the same sport flying or 3D as the pros.

As I had emphasized many times though, it is the fingers and our minds that makes a difference even with 2 categories of fliers, being one cheap & the other costly...

U can try using 2S of 7.4V or 3S separate battery for a start to supply receiver to drive servos for start setup. It will not be that fast for 50V to flow across to the rest of electronics should the BEC be defective after output multimeter reading tests...
