    Building Linear UBEC

I'm thinking of building a linear UBEC with 5v, 5A output

    LM1084IT-5.0 x1
    24v 22uf Cap x 1 (Input)
    10v 22uf Cap x 1 (Output)
    Heatsink x 1
3S Balance Port Extension 22 AWG (To tap input from balancing port)
15cm Male 22AWG Twisted (Output to Rx)
Y-Cable, with remove the red wire for the throttle input from ESC
    Shrink Tube

    Total cost: Around 15 sgd.

    Will it work?

    Regards,
    SR

    Clip on heatsink
    25v 10uf x 2
    Shrink tube
    Some wires

    I've a working Linear 5v, 5A UBEC

        I have attached the diagram.

Only did a test on my glider with 6 digit servo. If you wanna to use it on a 3D heli, better use a fluke 170 with dc amp clamp to check the amp draw.

        Cheers

Build one like this on a 40 size nitro plane -Scanner RTF plane

The wiring on the LM regulator breaks, due to vibration.
Luckly was on ground check (after landing flight). If is in flight it is

Any reader can give ideals or suggestion strenghten the legs for LM regulator? Epox , type of epoxy to use, smallest metal/plastic casing for the lm and cusion the vibration etc.

Or how you guy can secure for better usage?

Goop ok? Sorry, I anyhow hantam, but I used Goop before to prevent short circuits on my home made BECs

                Hi,

Solder the cap and regulator to PBC board.

Epoxy the heatsink to PBC board, I used spartan gyro tape to secure the device.

I'm thinking of sending a PBC board design to webby to custom make a few for future use

                Regards,

Is a good ideal on PCB board, any soldered pins and circuitry below (Pcb board) must not be shorted or contact with nitro fuel.

Plastic container (1.5cm x 1 cm x 4cm) will be the best filled with epoxy.

Spartan gyro Tape is gd ?... can eleborate? (waterproof, high temp adhersive, price , where to get...etc)

                  Appricates...

                    Here are some pic.

You can get the gyro tape from most LHS.

They are quite soft and easy to work.
