Think someone posted before a paid service to do this conversion.

For me, I sent my tx back to spektrum and they did the conversion for free. In addition, they replaced some parts that were wonky (antenna, rusted screws etc). That's what I call service - no questions asked!
Try contacting them and ask for this conversion.
Note: I paid for the postage there and spektrum paid for the postage back
i've converted a mode 2 to mode 1 before.
there's 2 ways to do it. partial or full.
partial is lot easiler, takes abt 10mins, involves swapping of stick.
however with this conversion, u cant use flapons or v-tail mixing.
basically, yr tx... will hv juz basic features.
with full conversion, it involves swapping, cutting n soldering of wires.
this conversion will give u full dx7 functions, however, onli set back is
the throttle trim display will be in reverse. note, onli display. not tat u gonna
use it anyway.... other then tat it shd work without any problems..

Hi neoltan,
I have been in your same shoes before. There are DIY modifications (either paid services or follow internet guides) that require some wire switching and soldering, but I do not recommend it.
This is because the software will still not recognise the new mode 2 connections and trust me, you won't feel good seeing that the digital trims display are upside down for a $400 radio. And soldering something so expensive is not a good idea to me.
Also, if you noticed, the throttle stick has less travel than the the other stick. If you do DIY mod, now your cyclic stick will has less travel than the throttle stick. Not nice.
I've asked local spektrum dealers and they also can't do it as well. IIRC, they can send it over to Spektrum USA for a fee. Or you can send it out yourself. Attach a piece of paper stating your work required, contact details and return address.
The only proper way to change to mode 2 is to send the radio out to spektrum in USA. The software gets reflashed to reflect the trims properly, the unit gets inspected, the stick travels are changed properly and basically u get a refurbished unit. But i think you might have to pay for that.
The last way of course, is to sell or swap your DX7. That was what I did considering that I didn't want to ship it to USA or make it less than perfect by doing the DIY mod.
Anyway, if you're sending it out, you can refer to:
i check with them but they told me there will be a surcharge actually i am a newbie but i feel that most of the people choose mode 2 instead of mode 1 thats y i thought of changing but which mode will be easier to fly?
