SPECTRA 2.4 AFHSS 2.4Ghz RF Module compatibility

Since rotor is selling it now...

Just wondering if anyone has any review on this module from hitec, wondering if it is usable on Futaba 10CHP series. Performance wise? Telemetric function works on futaba controller.. or just on its Aurora transmitter only.

The telemetry should be only for Aurora 9....because Aurora 9 has the extra screen to display it.

Do remember that, to have full telemetry function, not only u need Aurora 9, u also need the "telemetry station" (can't remember the correct name) installed in your aircraft before u can use all the functions like fuel measurement and etc.

That "telemetry station" is to connect to the RX's "data" port. I think Hitec haven't release it yet...but hope it release as soon as possible.

Just by using Aurora 9, u can only read back the RX's battery voltage and give u warning sound when it fall to certain level. The level is fixed based on the RX battery voltage. I can only change (customize) to different level by using Hitec HPP-22 programmer (not sure release already or not)

      Thanks for sharing.

In short, the telemetry information will not be available on non-aurora transmitter.

How about module compatibility with Futaba controllers? Reason being is their receiver is quite affordable and the branding is strong. Technically, being a big brand, i do expect it to be of a better quality compared to some other smaller unknown brands out there.

It should be compatible to Futaba because the Spectra is design to use in Aurora 9 and Optic6. Since Optic6 module is compatible to Futaba, so in theory, it should be compatible....BUT don't take my word for it. I haven't try it so I can't say it will work.

The best way is to bring your Futaba TX to rotor and try it out...if they allow u to try.

Yup...its (Hitec 2.4GHz) receiver is cheaper than the rest. At least we can trust Hitec brand than those unbranded China made.

EDIT: According to the Spectra manual, it is compatible to Eclipse 7 also.

          Here is a better answer:
Hitec/MultiPlex Radios- Ask Hitec Customer Service - Spectra 2.4 Ghz Module compatible with Futaba Transmitters? - Hi Mike. I have a Futaba 9z whose life I wouldn't mind extending for awhile with 2.4. It looks like I will eventually be getting an Aurora 9 when they come out. Out of interest, would I be able to use the

          From "MikeMayberry":
"We've tested it and other are using it in the 9C. I don't have a 9Z to test it with but if they use a similar module then it should work.

Note: In the past many people used the Hitec Spectra synthesized module in Futaba radios, and while it worked, the combo was not FCC type accepted so technically it was illegal. Hitec Spectra 2.4 system is self contained and does not use any of the radios RF section so it is legal to use in any radio that it fits.
