    Numbers on the motor..

    Hi all,

Am trying to understand more of brushless motors...

Can someone explain or direct me where explanation of the numbers on the motor means? I get the kv part, but the rest i have no clue... eg; like ##-##B 1300kv, or for scorpion motors, ####-#....

Any help will be very much appreciated..

    Thanks

Kv rating is basically equal to RPM per Volt with no load.

The numbers in front usually refer to the motor diameter and length.

    Example :

    Motor 3650-1600kv

Usually Means - Dia 36mm, Length 50mm and KV 1600.

      I see.....

So meaning to say there is no indication which size plane or heli the motor is recommended to be used for, so long as the dimensions and the spec meets the requirements.....

If it is some branded motor, normally they would have some recommendation of the size of plane or heli the motor is for.

So far I saw the following brands have recommendations, Neu motor, Lehner, plettenberg, Hacker, Feigao, Scorpion, Axi, Mega, Zpower and Medusa.

But if its no brand ones, then its up to flyers knowledge to use the appropriate motor.
