    Hi Wolfman

Engine there is two types: Diesel and Nitro
Diesel engine are difficult to mod to RC with a nuffler control, as some of these venturi (air fuel mixture or carburator) hole are huge (larger diamater) or is a moulded (whole piece) to crankcase. Top compression need to adj when low fuel idelling as when high full trottle (more fuel put in) for rc flying.

This goes to nitro engine some are moulded too. If is removable the venturi (carburator-air fuel mixture) you can mod by trying using OS carburator depends on the sizes.

Engine also have straight port (no muffler - direct out) and a muffler port (with muffler) so mod done on some of these engine. Noice can be very loud for RC for straight port out. If too big or too small a muffler mod adds in, the over perfomances may drop (as of rpm).

You also required a lathe machine to assist you for all these mod. Because in the process you may need coller or some special parts for the mod.

You would like to reconsider before doing any mod as Nitro engine are selling at lower cost with the range of $100 + - for OS. Also very much powerful for example (OS 55 FS more power than a 46).

Lastly electric BL motor for example Mushroom type ($6.50~17.00 USD) w a simple ESC ( 9.00 USD) with a lipo battery (15.00 USD) in total abt $50 sing dollar you can have a size between a 10 nitro engine to a 20 size nitro engine power and RPM. Cleaner, lesser starting problem, and bring less bulky item like fuel, starter, glow heater to the field.

Above mention are choices you can consider and can be venture through...

Happy flying keep flying as a nice hobby.
