JETI ESC connecting wire length

I have a JETI ESC for brushless motor. The specification said the connection wire length between the ESC and the battery pack must be less then 20cm. The motor doesn't seem to work if I extend beyond this length.

Is a pusher plane that I am working on. The motor is located behind the plane. The battery is located near to the front of the plane. The length between these two is greater is greater than 20cm. Should I extend the connection wire length between the ESC and the motor instead or there are other way of solving this issue?

I use longer motor wires, the wires must be thicker. Twist the 3 wires together to reduce noise.
