    lipo on tx

anyone using lipo batts on ff9??
some says the battery easily damaged
as the tx is drawing little current from the battery
and the left-over current in the battery would means for the next FF..
which is equal to long storage in high voltage.....

    is it true??

I have been using a 3S lipo pack in my 9CHP for close to two years already w/o any problems. I'm still using it.

        im using the stock batt
and show 10 plus full when fully charged
and after a few flights, the volts drop to 9.6v

btw...whats the low voltage for the ff9???

The "beep beep" alarm comes on at 8.4V.

Lipo will last abt two to three mths b4 charging is required.

Don't wait until the alarm from the TX at 8.4V!!! The alarm is meant for NiMh batteries but if you use Lipo and it goes below 9V, that's less than 3V per cell and you stand a risk of killing your lipo!

It is recommended to charge your lipo when the voltage is around 10V. I charge my TX Lipo about once per month but that's depending on your usage.

                Hi Adrianli,
You mean your TX alarm will beep when your lipo drop to 8.4V? Don't your lipo already dead before the TX beep? My TX cutoff before my TX beep and I crash my R50......

Guys, I am just replying to Zattan22 on the low voltage alarm. I did not state that I use lipo till the 8.4V alarm comes on.

Previously when I was on the stock Nicad batts, I do fly till the 8.4V alarm comes on. But since I converted to lipo, I'll balance charge it once voltage is 10.5V. I have been using Lipo since I started the hobby in 2003, I know the do's n dont's for lipo.

broe Adrianli, do we juz plug & play a 3s or we need to use some sort like stepdown regulator?

Theres alot of Pros for running lipo Tx packs ...Having 12.** Volts on the display, Charge once a month (If you fly every weekend), Very much lighter Tx, etc.

One major Con ! ...If you forgot to switch OFF your Tx and your Tx dun have a Tx inactive alarm, ...you will find a dead lipo Tx pack the next time you wanna fly.
Seriously running out of ...Storage space !

its kind of worry to see volt going down to 9 plus
                            and
each ff i need the battery to last a day......
thinking that the stock can not last til then i think me getting a lipo..

Bu Tahan the stock battery? But don't want use lipo??

Then can try the sanyo eneloop. $30+ for 8 at Alan Photo. Confirm enough to last a whole weekend of flying and don't self discharge like other batteries do. Just plug on wall charger overnight after each weekend before you sleep.
