    Spektrum DSM2

    Hi there,

Has anyone done a comparison of 2.4ghz transmitter modules from Spektrum (Spektrum DSM2) and Xtreme power systems (Xtremelink) for JR transmitters? Except for price and cosmetics, they seem to be pretty much identical. Would I be able to use a spektrum receiver with say an Xtreme power systems transmitter or 2.4ghz systems not interoperable?

    Hello!

From what i gather, though all uses 2.4ghz band, not all is compatible.. in fact only JR and Spektrum are compatible. all other brands like FASST, XPS, ASSAN and what u have would be different.

i have been using Spektrum DX7 for about 2 weeks. NO REGRET! best stuff ever.

    CHEERS!

Go for XPS if you have not gotten any 2.4Ghz or if on budget go for Assan, it's below $100.

Hi there, thanks for your reply, seems from your signature you are using spektrum, are you unhappy with the equipment?

No, i am happy with it but in terms of specs, the XPS outshine Spektrum, and i dun really like the idea of mounting 1 antenna and the rx in perpenticular orientation, need to crack your head sometime to think where to mount.

If you get XPS, they have a patented STUB antenna, no need external antenna.

BTW, if you see the specs, spektrum offers "Line of Sight", XPS offers 5 miles! 5 miles is amazing!

XPS in future their RX will be telementary ready, some bro here told me that. And of cause at a cheap price in package deal, i think it only makes sense going for XPS :P

I think the Spektrum is about $50 more with a 7ch RX, the XPS comes with a 8ch RX at $50 cheaper.

I love spektrum, it's cool, it already build a brand for itself, and that's why they can price a premium. I used it for my Car too and it rocks, Car dun have contender, so they almost rules the 2.4Ghz market. Fut, Sanwa and KO just only came out with 2.4.

Yes bro it is, any XPS RX will be compatible with the XPS TX Module. My friend will be getting 1 soon for his JR, make me so jealous, XPS seems better in terms of spec.

But dunno if NTC already have stock for the 8ch, from what i gather, the 6ch RX is not ready yet, so if you do not need 8ch, you might be paying more to get a 8ch which might be overkill.

                    Better in which way??

In the meantime i dun nid a 8chn rx, maybe in future. But they sell it as a combo right?? The price compare to Spektrum fut 2.4ghz, which is more ex??

                    Thanks.

Based on the spec given on XPS website,

                      http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/

The combo for XPS with 10ch RX is cheaper than Spektrum with AR9000 9ch RX.

The XPS with 10ch RX is only $20 or $30 more than XPS with 8ch RX.

The Spektrum + AR7000 (7ch) is about the price of XPS with 10ch RX.

Haha..........if i were to buy again, i go for XPS
But of cuz Spektrum is not bad too, consoling myself haha......

IMHO, in terms of popularity, Spektrum might have the edge as they have DX6, DX6i, DX7 and DSX9. So there will be more people letting go 2nd hand Spektrum module, be it DSM1 or DSM2 (The DSM2 module can use either DSM1 or DSM2, DX6 can only use the DSM1 RX though). But in terms of XPS, got to wait a while to make it more popular or it might not happen also, no one will know.

So give and take lar, i know it's hard to decide. If you go for XPS, most likely if you wanna buy a RX, you got to get it brand new as not many people will let go the RX for XPS

Icic.. Yeah it hard to decide mannx.

Spektrum's antenna is kinda dangling ard, if not careful might break it. While for XPS someone had problems with it.

Haha, it darn hard to decide lah...
