Noes.
I dont know much about soldering, but I had bought one and its terrible.
High electricity between two tiny probes will cause the soldering material to melt. And thats the problem:
-It does not work good with small stuff
-It does not heat up too big stuff
-The tip is brittle
-You will zap electronic circuits if you let the tip parts touch a different wire as well.
Its probably great for kids who want to get a wire onto a LED, but thats it. I tried it, so unless you can live with the flaws and maybee bring it back to the store, get a cheap soldering iron that will still do the job ;)
I walk into this shop and wanted to buy this product that you were talking about, the sales lady took it from my hand and put it back on the shelf and said, "I'm doing you a favour and saving you the trouble to come down again"
I said thank you to my friend and left without buying....

I was wondering if it as good as normal soldering iron?
Hehe, similar happened to me.
But since I was planning on using it with kids I bought it anyway.
But...
It just does not work right.
There are several inexpensive battery operated soldering devices that might not last as long, but they do a nicer job.
I will recommend u a portable butane soldering Torch. Get one that range from 25 to 100w. Around $70 or cheaper if u buy it at the right shop in slt.
Butane is very cheap as well. High power, portable and u can use flameless heat with other nozzles. Best thing about butane soldering torch is that it heats up very very quickly. Dun have to wait so long.

True, but battery operated ones are cheaper- though not as good if you intend to use it regulary, more the kind you want to put in your field tool box.
