    Problems with Spektrum AR6100 Reciever?

    Hi,

Does anyone of you folks have issue with the AR6100 reciever? I encountered twice where my Multiplex Funjet went into a uncontrollable spin with the receiver in it. The last incident happened yesterday at Jalan Bahar where the plane just crashed into the field!!

Spektrum and Horizon Hobby have identied that it is a software problem and had advised customers to return it for reprogramming. Please see the links below.

Question now is, should we send it back to Horizon Hobby directly or should we send it back to the local dealer?

Could your problem be similar to this link?.
This guy momentary lost control on his Lightning jet plane with the DX7 systems.

RC Jets - DX-7 range problem today!! - I was totally sold on the DX-7 and spektrum technology. Everyone at my local field knows I adopted it eagerly as I put it in my lightning and my F-15. Today I almost lost my aircraft due to a lock out or going out of range. Everything in the aircraft is installed as prescribed.

At 2.4GHZ, did you have any aluminum or metal foil inside your aircraft?
The RX spectrum antenna should be away any metal object of significal size like batteries, wires or aluminum foil that was use to shield the ESC.

    Cheers

I'm also waiting for the local dealer directions.

Although I have not experienced any servo lock situation yet, but still feel uneasy.
However, the fail-safe is definitely not working properly right from the beginning and will not revert to your saved settings.

Hi Oh I forgot to mention. If your plane landed on wet grass advice you to clean dry the plane before the next flight.
The wetted plane body becomes a electrical contacted and could reduce the
Spectrum RX reception(shorten the RX range).

2.4Ghz receivers are very sensitive to close proximity to wet and electrical conductive materials.

        Cheers

Yes Babylon5, I have my servo wires wrapped in aluminium foil. I have taken it out last night and will try again tomorrow afternoon if I have the time.

I'll also make it a point to wipe dry the plane after every flight.

          Thanks for the advice.

I just got a reply from Horizon Hobby's Product Support Team.

Horizon will take care of the return shipping when returning the
receivers back to me in Singapore. Hence I will be sending all my AR6100 recievers over to have it reprogrammed just to be safe.

              Hi swiftlancer

              how's the returned Rx going?

Today finally encountered a full elevator locked on my heli.

Anyone still planning to send the Rx back to Horizon for software upgrade?

I got 6 of the Rx back from programming.

So far so good. Have not encountered lockout since.
