What size of ESC to use?

Sorry guys, have a newbie question to ask.
Since there is a range of ESC eg 18a , 30a. For eg. I'm buying a trainer plane with smaller size low Kv brushless, can I use the motor with a high 30a when a 18a is already sufficient?

This is so, because ESC are one of the higher price electronics on plane, I would prefer if possible to buy a ESC, so that if I need to change to a bigger or higher Kv brushless, I can use back the ESC.

    Hi Hot,
I usually look at the specified Amp of the motor and just choose a ESC about 20-30% larger.
Eg. 30A motor, use 45Amp ESC.

prob use this methodlogy when buying your items...

ESC rating > Motor capacity < Battery discharge ratings.

Everything greater than your motor cap = ok...
