Warning Advisory for Polyquest PCM Guard.

    Taken from Air-craft world...

    PCM GUARD ADVISORY

    NOTES CONCERNING CHARGER COMPATIBILITY

We have discovered that the PCM Guard MUST be connected-disconnected in a certain order, to insure that some chargers do not damage the PCM Guard unit.

Some chargers, most notably Triton, may output very high voltage spikes which can damage the PCM Guard, if the PCM Guard is connected to the charger without a lithium battery pack attached to the PCM Guard. At this time, we recommend particular caution using Triton chargers with PCM Guard. However, you should find that this MANDATORY connection order will allow use of PCM Guard with any charger.

THE PCM GUARD MUST BE CONNECTED/DISCONNECTED IN THIS ORDER:

    CONNECT FOR CHARGING:

    * Connect Charger to 12V power source (car battery or high-quality switching power supply)

    * Connect Lithium-Polymer Battery to PCM Guard via the Multipin-Connector

    * Connect PCM Guard to Charger Output
WARNING! Ignore the charger polarity symbols on the PCM Guard label.
    Red Wire = POSITIVE ( + )
    Black Wire = NEGATIVE ( - )

    DISCONNECTION:

    * DISCONNECT CHARGER FROM POWER SOURCE

    * DISCONNECT PCM GUARD FROM CHARGER
(Li-po is still attached to PCM Guard at this point)

    * DISCONNECT Li-Po BATTERY from PCM GUARD

NON-APACHE CHARGERS (Schulze, Triton, Ultra, etc) should NEVER be used in an "AUTO" mode. Set the Lithium series-cell count (2S, 3S, etc) MANUALLY.
