ep motor mount/ gear housing ratio properties.

hi all. you know motor mount or gear housing (don't know the actual term of the peice of plastic) which you attach your motor too? they come with ratio ratings eg 5:6:1 or something. what does it represent? for example, bigger ratio means what? hope someone can explain this thanks

gearboxes u mean. Bigger means more torque can use bigger props for the same amp draw but the prop rotation speed will go down. Some ppl say geared inrunners are more efficient than directdrive outrunners.

It apply to heli but I believe it apply to airplane as well:
The higher the ratio, the more slower the speed changes (changes from low speed to high speed or from high to low speed of throttle to propeller speed).
In direct drive... or which is 0 ratio, the speed changes is the fastest)

            e starter

so for example if i'm using a gws e starter, which gearbox ratio do u guys recomend if i'm using a gw ep 300 motor? higher ratio value or lower ratio value?

Get a B gear on 8.4V or 2s lipo to run a 9070 GWS prop. I do that for casual flight on art-tech 8.4V 1000ma to achieve 10 mins flight time. Suggest you get the 350 or 370 motor you u stay brushed, more powerful. Well brushless is even better.
