Still on the Spitty....
Got the panel lines and canopy done. Tried a bit of weathering and trying to seal the paint and panel lines with the Ezekote but it smudges the weathering more... Really could use a bottle of Future Floor polish. Any ideas where to. Up that in Sg?
Here are the pastels I'm going to test with the weathering.

Did the underside with the pastel black. Some hit and misses. Hard to control the spread of the pastel but it's relatively easy. Drawback is the sealing coat is brushed on and it spreads the pastel particles more. But it 'seasons' the look more.
Canopy glue turned out well with the fit, nice and clean. Panel lines on the topside aren't too visible. Will accentuate the lines but will be a toss up between the pastels or airbrushing. Will have the same problem with the pastels unless I find a water based gloss acrylic to airbrush on. Still looking for Future Floor Polish.

Been looking around for balsa kits for a Hawker Hurricane and Spitfire, and here are some links if there are folks interested:
http://lazer-works.com/gus.html - Good source of short kits but, they don't come with plans. I still need to figure a cost effective way for the wood, plans and parts to come together.
http://www.manzanolaser.com/html/warbirdkits.html - All in one kits with the plans, but they're still short kits (you'll need more wood).
http://www.theplanpage.com/esp/hurri.htm - downloadable free flight plans that you can scale up. Have seen this one fly very well in Penang
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187174 - a good reference build site for the Hurricane

Found the Future Floor Polish
The web is a good source indeed. Read an article here http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html that mentioned the product and which store in Singapore. Wasn't too hard after that....

Back on the Piper Cub, and onto the wings
Then last couple of OK Models kits had wings that really held together like a tight jigsaw puzzle. And likewise, the Cubby's wings took me 10 mins to label, and then another 15 mins or so to decipher the plan and pictorial illustration to get this far, including assembling. So much faster than the fuselage! I remember building the ducted fan DJ-1 delta wing (no, also not flown yet.... It's in one of my threads here), the wing was so tight, I could lift it up and flick it around without any glue.

Progressed the wing further and it comes together fast by design, not skill. Noticed a few minor mistakes I made even with this being a jigsaw puzzle build. But, one worry I have is a bit of warping on one side. My mistake of not paying attention that the spar was uneven on the board, and me rushing the ribs in. Let's see how it goes... Need to sleep on it.

Panel lines done on the GWS Spitfire
Here's the panel lines airbrushed on the top camorflage. Wasn't too hard but could do better next time blending the choice of colors. Flash on the camera gives it a different look.
Just need to get another Ezekote layer on to help seal the paint and toughen the foam some. The. It's onto the linkages and servos.
