    The Paper Airplane Thread

    Here's flying of another sort.

I tested out 3 models. Throw them at home. My parents thought I was nuts.

    1) Our 'childhood' type of paper airplane - the type used to irritate teachers and classmates.

Nothing much to say, I've been flying this for years. Didn't fly as far as the others though. Weak nose, bad CG. Floppy airframe. I rate it 3 stars.

    2) The 'Avenger' - quoted by newspapers to be the best design in the world, done by scientists.

I like this. Looks good, has something like a rudder, and elevons! Nose weight is increased due to extra folds. Unfortunately it did not fly as far as the Best. But lost roughly by a few centimeters...

    3) The 'Best Paper Airplane in the World' - self described by the http://www.zurqui.co.cr/crinfocus/paper/airplane.html.

I like this. To me, it flew further than the Avenger. Or was it that I was getting experienced at chucking paper airplanes around? Nose heavy, wide wingspan. Elevons are a simple matter, although I didn't cut them out. I rate this 5 stars.

Try them yourself! Maybe there are other paper airplanes to do.

your paperplanes looks cool... i like the second one...

    Airplane:
    GWS Zero Fighter (retired)
    Phoenix .40 Classic Trainer (crashed)
    Phoenix .40 Laser (retired)
    GWS Estarter (building)

    Helicopter:
Hirobo Sceadu Evo 50 w/ .30 engine (retired)
    Trex 450XL CDE (retired)

Its not the takeoff and flying, its the landing and repairing, so that you can takeoff and fly again...

Here's some link to great paper airplanes link I search on google.
          Enjoy!

Paperairplanes.co.uk has been running since the 90s offering easy to use paper airplane designs as both written instructions (with images) and videos to use since the 1990s. At one point this was the largest paper airplanes site on the web, I published a book about paper airplanes and sold 150,000 copies! The paper airplane video […]

I tried to design a paperplane myself a couple of years ago and it looks good...but it can't fly hahaha

btw i used an A3 paper (from TODAY newspaper) to make this thing ... you can compare its size with the A4 foolscap paper...

              Wow. I like ...

Actually I'm thinking - if we can enlarge the designs and convert them into RC, that'll be cool...

have to change material i think, paper frame wont be able to take the weight and forces involved

I've tried the paperang using yellowpage and once I tried gliding it over a slope and it caught a thermal! glide ratio on this flying wing is fantastic and if folded properly, it will glide in any living room without you chucking it... forget about all your deltas... i can throw a crush paper ball as far as u can chuck ur plane...

give paperang a shot... u wont regrad not selling your yellowpage to garanguni

Wow. The paperang really works! I mean I just threw it and it flew in a lazy circle ...and hit my wall. (apartment too small).

                            Hmmmm.....
1st of all congrats on our discovery on this great flying paper wing

ok, if your wing is flying to the left, flaten the right wing by abit and see how it behaves... it should fly straight...

if u use yellowpage and the paper is cut to A4 ratio, with some practice u should be able to almost just release the wing... no need to chuck like normal chuck deltas...

1 trick u must try... if your wing is light, u can try this: Hold the nosetip of the wing and give it a hard throw 5-45 degree onto the floor... if done correctly the wing should zoom around ur body (like over ur shoulder pass ur back reach ur leg pass ur front body and the loop continues) i know it sounds crazy... but with some practice any1 should be able to do it... my max record is 2.5 loop... darn fun...

ok... still... nothing beats building n flying rc planes... but wat the hack... we need to satisfy the boy in us sometimes...
