My thoughts exactly! So I ended up with a pair of el-cheapo Skyline from the neighbourhood Esso petrol station.

Like Nightbreed said, how long you last depends on your internal engine and of course how strong the wind is. For sure it's more tiring than flying a rc plane. Scudding is easy...yeah right! Personally, I think scudding on any part of the body, like bottom, belly, back, knee, side is very much easier than upright on your feet!
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Power kiting IS extreme sport. Else it won't be fun, right? Well, how extreme depends how mad or brave you are. If you bring out your 3.0M at galeforce wind, that's extreme all right. Scudding on a grassy field is also not recommended unless the field is as flat as a football pitch. Uneven ground can catch your foot. Also, investing on a pair of hiking boots, which covers the ankle , is a good idea too.

            DIY Kite Killer

            Just finished my Kite Killer.

            Materials
            1. Nylon webbing from discarded bag. Sewn to similar shape as the straps.
            2. Plastic tubing - from neighbourhood aquarium.
            3. 4mm/450kg dyneema blend cord - Marinetech.
            4. 6mm bungee with external polyester braiding - Marinetech.
            5. Some shrinkwraps.

            a. Thread dyneema cord through the plastic tubing.
            b. Thread cord through the strap. Tie up the cord.
            c. Shrink wrap the knot to tidy up. Also helps to secure the knot.
            d. Rotate the finished cord to hide the knot.

              h. The other end is larks-headed to the brake lead to complete the picture.

I guess the next thing to do is wait patiently for July.

No choice but to improvise. Difficult to buy kite killers here. Ozone has nice ones but Bilbo doesn't sell them loose. Don't think I want to order a set of handles just to get the KK.

Why do you think my left ankle and shoulder are now no longer functioning properly and are constantly aching?

HOwever, I'm still thinking of getting a bigger kite...

Heheh, Not trying to scare you. But the shoulder is stiff and the foot, at certain angles, can ache quite a bit. And I got them from being silly.

ANyway, we usually kite in bermudas. So, if you comfortable with the kind of fashion statement you make in army boots, bermudas and t-shirt, then carry on.

Not than bad lah. Just imagine Lara Croft type of gear. Tank top, micro pants and the boots, of course.....

Intrance, like I said earlier, make do with what you have first. If don't like then get a new one. Mine's the cheapo Weinbrenner boots from Bata.

I think when there's a gust and you kenna suddenly dragged about, you should know who will laugh last! Just like those who went rollerblading without any safety gear.

I've bought a pair of army kneepads too, just in case. Helmet, bicycling ones will suffice.

Was out yesterday at west coast park, very light wind, around 4-5knts, out with my new toy Ozone Frenzy06 10m. Spent an hour run with it till the kids start running around the field. Decided to pack up before I injure anyone, last thing I want is to have kiting banned in Singapore. It was great fun leisure flying anyway, after few weeks of no-action ad hibernation.

Josh and Oliver is up Kuantan flying.......SW better come early this year.
