    Misusing of RC equipment!

Bad news will happen to us if this guy succeed in this mission!

Actually they make it sound so... media and the law enforcement agency just like to create a "hysterical" atmosphere. Sells more newspapers?

Remote controlled airborne vehicles as a means of weapons delivery is nothing new, in fact, USA themselves have been using it without attracting so much attention and fanfare. And theirs is so much more deadlier!

This is not the only plot the USA has discover. USA has made quite a bit of enemies in the past ,present and possibly future.

Moreover, U.S.A allow some of this migrant workers into their countries, then allow them to live in the country, educated , eat the same stuff like any American only to find in time, that some come back to bite the hands that feed them.....very sad situation.
        Somewhere something has gone awry.

This may affect our hobby adversely, ie. it may become increasingly difficult or impossible to ship things over. Politics will always be there but it sucks when it affects us directly.

I don't take everything I read from the america at face value, take a moment and think about it. Can you really make an rc aircraft and do real damage to a building. Those of us who have build rc planes knows it takes a lot of skill and knowledge to construct a working model. It takes a giant like Boeing to build the Predator. Can you really build a model to carry at least 100lbs of explosive, fly it about 1-2 kilometers by fpv and hit a valuable target.Bear in mind the plane will have to be large thus visible so you will have to take off from quite far away in a place with a suitable runway- like surface away from the public view.In Washington DC? Seriously?
From what I read in the US news, the undercover agents put the idea to the alleged terrorist and even supplied the rudimentary materials. They say the CIA grew tired of waiting for him to do something so they decide to sting him.
Lets wait and see if the case can go to court.Remember the US do not have ISA.

Think of chemical warfare(not german gas!!!) an r/c plane can actually work if it hits the HVAC system of the building. Many casualties like in Tokyo subway many many years ago.

Received this email from Tower Hobbies:

                ------------------------------------

Urgent Notice - Your Immediate Action Is Needed
Send Your E-Mail By October 10
Help preserve your rights regarding hobby materials

                Dear Tower Hobbies Customer,

Many people are concerned with new government regulations that are designed to limit our hobby industry. You've probably heard about the new FAA regulations limiting our use of R/C airplanes and proposed shipping bans for R/C batteries.

New regulations are being considered regarding model rocket motors. This may not immediately impact your particular hobby but it's just another step toward regulation of materials used in hobbies and deserves your attention.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has recently advised that they propose to terminate a special permit under which model rocket motors and igniters have been shipped for the last 33 years. If the permit is terminated model rocket motors and igniters will no longer be able to be shipped as "Flammable Solids" and will instead have to be shipped as "Explosives."

In 33 years there have been no incidents involved in the shipping and transporting of model rocket motors and igniters.

Hobbyists need your support. Attached is a sample e-mail that we request you send immediately to express your support.

We believe that shipping model rocket motors and igniters as "Explosives" would only cause unnecessary concern for hobby shops, educators, youth group leaders and families using model rockets for educational and recreational purposes.

If you believe as we do, please send an e-mail to the Department of Transportation no later than October 10, 2011.

Hey, next thing you know, UNDERWEAR will also be very hard to ship over...

... thanks to this "underwear bomber" guy, or maybe the idea was also planted in his head?

What if they start to ban UNDERWEAR???

At airport have to take off UNDERWEAR for scanning...

Some of the US RC forums have also rubbished the idea...

Here you have a beginner, trying to pilot an EDF jet towards a target??

...Highly unlikely he'll go very far, as all of us can guess!
