anyway the pics only for show only lah..speaks a 1002 words....more concern is whether this message get through to all flyers especially some never visit web one....just fly sitting down on curb...ppl blocking them also never mind...simply fly blindly...

anyway will be a good start to enforce safety.

      hey

Some people have x-ray vision or trajectory assimilation ability where they can accurately calculate the trajectory of a projectile while located in a transversely oblique position.
Go back in one piece to fly another day.
      Having fun yet?

                              my point of view

                              hi guys,

I was down this morning and had a great time flying with the guys.
Also the guys promoting safety to the rest of the flyers are doing a great job.
However so..there are somethings that can do better.

For example..."safety personal" if u see a flyer not conforming to the rules, pls dont shout at that flyer. Firstly you are distracting the flyer which can make him disorientated...worst if he lost sight of his plane. Other flyers can also be distracted...I was. Why not inform him after he lands his plane.

Secondly a more diplomatic approach is a must when advising ppl. Not everbody knows everybody there. We dont want to scare away new guys.

Thirdly...I have to remind all of us that this is a public place. Until DHPG leased the land from gov....we have no right to tell people where to fly and how to fly. We can only advise but should not enforced.

Just imagine if somebody was to play an RC car on the road btw the fire hydrant and the zebra crossing...Are u going to tell the person to play else where?

At the end of the day....safety is an individual responsibility.

                              Thats my 5 cents.

                                Hi Musfin,

I agree with you on the notification part, it should be done after landing. I will take note of that and help remind if I see any instances myself, I am sure the others reading this will too.

However, I have to add on the following points.

I do not think we are scaring away new guys. There were 2 foreign folks here today, 2 ladies from China and 3 English from the UK. They were interested in our activities and this is their 1st or 2nd time here. There were also 3-4 beginners learning to fly with Alex I believe too. They took delight in the cleaning up (partial) especially and I have also explained to the Chinese and English about the Fire Hydrant onward method and they have agreed heartily. IMHO, you may have seen 1 or 2 examples of notification that did not go down well with you but I am pretty sure on the whole, it was a lot more than pleasant at least from my end.

I am not representing DHPG or DH with regards to the place. I am also pretty sure everyone has a good idea that it is a public place and need not be reminded. It is this fact that it is a public place hence I “SUGGESTED” safety guidelines. With the current group that is flying there, I have made my rounds to gather feedback and believed the great majority supported the suggestions. With great majority in this practice, we advised people and I have not heard “no” but a resounding compliance and “ok, no prob”. If there is any example, please enlighten me. It is my hope that with this majority practice, the group culture can influence other RC fliers and make it a safer place for everybody to use. If there are people who do not heed the advice, it is also the same culture that will naturally make this people feel pressured and unwelcome to a certain extent but please note that if it brings about better safety, then I do not see why it is bad. Safety is reminded and encouraged, please do not take John’s policing joke too seriously. He meant well.

We do have a guy playing RC car once. Nobody stopped him. It is the same as with Heli, you are free to use it. I simply walk over and say “Hi, I am taking off, could I have a window of about a few seconds?” These guidelines are for us flyers only, the guidelines are meant for us to preserve the use of the field safely with public users be it they jog, run or whatever. We do not stop them. I fail to understand why you have the idea we will stop them, any incident you might want to quote? Safety is an individual responsibility that I agree with you. If I may add, individually you get somewhere, as a group where communications and co-ordination flows, you go further, a much longer way. If you see some posts earlier, you would have seen we made the point we wanted self policing, no group committee of any sort. I see better results with being individually mindful and group mindful. Why is that? Only 2 simple reasons for that, safety first and consideration for other users of the field. The very first post I made is all about that.
Stop looking for a gyro in my plane, they are all in the head.
