Well, I believe it might be true.

But we all gotta practice safety while flying.

Some points we should always remember:

      1. Fly @ least 5-10 meters away from people.

      2. Never point the propelling parts at people around.

      3. Check frequency before powering up.

      4. Check frequency again before take off.

      5. Aircraft ground check.

      6. For people using LIPO/batteries, make sure they are fully charged.

      7. Ensure transmitter batteries is well-charged also.

      8. Never take off when people or things are obstructing the runway.

      9. Call for TAKE OFF and LANDING approach.

      10. ...

      Cheers

no problem i brang this up because my year co-ordinatior asked me to fly my heli on a welfare afternoon and i said that it is very dangerous and could cause serious injury. She said this because she has seen me bring it into school to work on it during electronics. i think that it is dangerous due to my Glitch problem but if every one stands a couple of meters behind me it should not be a problem ill only be hovering. what do you guys think

well i am not so sure that people are that considerate or conscious about safety. look at my post http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12999 sometime back. can you imagine getting hit by the plane. obviously that flyer is over confident.

i have seen other flyers flying in similar fashion too, have even callout no flying over pit area but some just ignore you. There're even some who just arrived and without checking with flyers already present about frequency and started flying.

wow..how nice. i wish my boss will ask me to bring my heli to office and work on it during office hours..

yes, best place is behind the pilot but with a large crowd it will be difficult to see. I think you need to solve the glitch problems first. Don't be shy to reject if you are not confident.

For safety reasons, it is better not to fly such demos, unless it is a properly set out field. The crowd can surge forward and may stand in front of you blocking your view etc.

Sometimes at the flying site, we have pilots vision blocked by other inconsiderate pilots etc. Or others keep asking questions while u are attempting to do your first roll etc.

The risk is not worth it for the sport. If there is an accident, the profile would be high in such events.

I was hit by a .15 sized nitro RC air plane before... it happened in Yishun some years back. The plane flew right between my legs. The wing hit both my legs above my knees with the motor and fuselage scratching one of my leg.... I was fortunate that it was a dead stick landing otherwise I would probably had been seriously injured..... I never flew at the Yishun site again after that..... what really pissed me was the guy who was piloting the plane did not even shout out to the crowd when his plane drifted into the pit/spectator area.
