Hi all,
With VivoCity's recent opening, Toy 'R' Us sold WindDragon at S$59.90 (discounted).
This indeed attracted a lot of newbies buying this plane.
I'm not so worried about us who knows how to fly, but newbies.
The problem is, the set came with a "toy" 27Mhz MODE2 lousy one-speed only transmitter, and the range sucks!
The Rudder and Elevator are not properly trimmed (out of box) and I don't think newbies may know how to trim it properly.
We tried today helping one bro to fly, instead of controling the plane, the plane "controlled" us!
We went chasing to pull it back after about the range cut off at about 10~15meters.
Another bro came this evening to Punggol field, same problem.
I would like to appeal to all us, should we see any new folks trying out this plane at the field, pls take some trouble to walk over to give him/her a helping hand. Tell him there's a problem with the range and don't fly too far >15meters. Also, advice him to get a better transmitter/RX unit.
Because the plane is big (42" span) , there's a tendency to fly further and further as long as we can still see.
Also, new folks may not know how to control it properly yet.
It only takes one incidence to get any of our fields ban.
While its a good news to many of us for the low prices (opps Moh!),
the increase of number of newbies purchasing this plane may be an issue if we don't help guide them properly. Though its good to see more into this hobby.
Cheers!
