Termite ISSUE. All need to know

    Dear All

Since I am in the pest control industry. I better do my part here.

After seeing the thread photo on building ZERO by Tony.

It reminded me to inform you guys. Subterranean Temites are real Damaging Pest around and very discreetly.

    Advice ....

***NEVER ever store your boxes of planes especially balsa against the wall.
termites got the instinct to explore their food thru walls then come out from the corner or skirting and start eating the contents nearest to the walls.

Keep your hobby slightly away from the wall.

This is so because all buildings got cracks that these guys will travel.
15th floor attacked by these soil insects is a norm.

The reason why you should keep a distance away from wall is to inspect regularly. Take a peep every now and then to see if you find MUD trails from the wall to your STUFFs. If it is... high chance... At least you try to detect the earliest possible time before they really enjoy... Subterranean Termites will find more favourable at dark and lesser movement areas like stores, behind pianos..

*** If possible, stack your boxes or planes above a coffee or living room table. (metal ones)
Again this is for you to inspect/Take a peep regularly.

Never think that Subterranean Termites are Rare stuffs. Being in the Pest Control industry the level of infested calls are sizable. Only thru one company, what bout the rest of the hundred plus pest control companies..

These two advice to make sure our Precious hobby dun become honeycombed. It does not prevent them from coming into your house. It only allows you to peep at the space for any Termite Mud trails to react promptly.

Hope this msg is clear to alll.

    Good day guys
What you do today is what you will get tommorow.

    You work, you get money.
You exercise, you get good health.
You shit, you can eat some more... (not shit..)

Haha... if only this warning had been posted earlier.

We were attacked by termites about 2 months ago. No signs at all at first. Then saw mud trails in one cabinet. Called in the pest controllers, and traced the trails from the guest room all the way to the entire kitchen. A slight knock on the painted kitchen cabinet wood trims broke right through the paint revealing throughly eaten up wood behind the paint. The paint surface was actually camouflaging the presence of the termites.

2 baits were put in to 'feed' the colony. Within a couple days, all the bait had been consumed and more was refilled. This went on for about 2 weeks. The pros were telling us that we had more than one colony under us... more likely, we had at least 3 colonies... and they have been around for a long time judging by the size of the workers.

Then came good news... no more workers, but soldiers are now seen. This meant the poison had killed of all the workers, and the soldiers are now sent to bring food back to the colony.

Another 2 more weeks passed... and we are now seeing only traces of activity. The Pest controllers have just drilled around our building on the outside and put in some pods with some baits. This is supposed to feed any passing termites so that they will stay outside of the house. The 'food' they bring back will kill the colony.

We had to sign a 5 year contract for this service. Not cheap. Also, we will have to redo all the damaged cabinets in the guest room and the kitchen. This one will be the main bomb! And we will still have to wait for at least another 2 months to ensure that the all clear is given... So where will you find people to work around CNY period? So we will have to wait more.

So take heed to this bro's advice.

May the only termites you will ever see be dead ones or those shown in science books.

                        Don't think so, unfortunately.
