Charity drive for an orphan

First I would like to thank Mike for allowing me to post in DH for the charity drive, which make a significant different compare to if I am on my own.

All the while I thought I am old enough to handle stuff that the world throw at me…..than again I am wrong…..today as I open up the newspaper front page of the home section a picture came to my attention……with further read on I am momentary lost in thought…….a toddler orphan try to reach his parent wedding picture…..who have past away in a miss happen 2 years ago…..what come next in my mind is my little girl running to me with her open arm calling daddy when I return home from work……I am sad ……real sad even I know very well there is always something bad happen somewhere some how…but I want to help. Then again how much can I do.

I have sent an email to the reporter of the newspaper to find out the actual situation. As the last thing I want to know is that …..they are not that bad after all…..but true enough the poor family are living in difficulty. For detail you can refer to today straits times home section.

So I am thinking of calling a Daddyhobby charity drive to help out the family…..may not be much but every cents counts….at least for now. I am not sure is it the right thing to do , but my heart is say yes.

I need all the help form you guys, not just a donation but advise on how we can do it in a proper way. As when come to money it is always a sensitive issue.

If we can make DHMM, may be we can make something even more meaningful to life…..if we can put our heart together just like helping our fellow flyer. May be it is not that difficult after all….

So please advise how possible we can make this come true for the poor toddler orphan

This is the best I can put forward in my own word and I am not related to the family in any way. The reporter is willing to help too.

I was at the clinic to see doc n saw this news on the papers also.


Apparently, its the flame arrestor not installed in the cutting torch that cause this explosion and the death of 4ppl including the toddlers' parents. They were doing well financially till this incident.

It was said the grandparents has 3 or 4 other children overseas helping them financially.



May I know what do u propose to do?

Yes, they have kid at oversea sending fund back but with the feedback from the report there are hardly enough for monthly useage ....

My intension is a simple donation to the family, but then again all advise are welcome. As this really need help from eveybody. Really appreciate.

May be we can gather donation from various flying field and then together we hand it over to the poor family. Just my thought.... have never done this before so no sure which is the best way out.

That is what come to my mind in the very moment.....if every member just make a small donation will turn that into a significant contribution to the family....which will have direct benefit rather than waiting for some wellfare origination ....you know wht I means

Thank for the support , if anybody have concern on money. May be even toy or food item should be fine I think....dont mind doing the collection and delivery too.

Sorry, did not get a chance to get hold of the newspaper. But I remember reading the article when the accident happen..... the victim parent mentioned that they will take care of the grandchildren jus like they take care of their son ..... apparantly age is catching up w them. Loyn, if you want to start collection, I am ready to contribute I will also give some thot to it see if any other idea to contribute.

At the end I will call up the reporter so to meet up with the family and hand it over to them. Proper bookkeeping will be carry out on the cash collected and publish on DH. That is what I can think off.

Thank bro yes still valid, but feel uneasy using my own acount. May be for those I have known for long is ok but for any new member not so sure about that. As not sure how they think about that.

Anyway we will go ahead with the cash donation and strightly voluntary. Even a dollar is very much welcome.

Anybody from other DHFF area wanted to help out on the donation collection?

If through my a/c then I will publish the collection list everyday till hand over to the family. Finally sign off by the reporter and their family member. At the same time, at least one major DH member with me at the handing over. (hope Mike can help, as he is the boss)
