        Bro,
I am using the GARMIN GDR35. Not bad, I think. Of course, the concern that is parking under hot sun. Until now I still looking for one that can 'Tahan' the afternoon heat. The inbuilt Li-ion will definitely fail faster if exposed to the heat too long. For me, I always remove it when park in the open carpark.

Whatz ur budget and what u want the car cam to do?

Cheap cheap range = China brands
Mid range = Korean n Taiwan brands like DOD-tec
High range = Korean brands like Blackvue, Finevu, itronics and Inavi

If just using as drive recorder, any other car cam will do.

If using as surveillance cam, get korean brands and the following models : Blackvue DR500, Finevu CR500, itronics itb100-SP and Inavi FXD700. As surveillance cam when connected to car battery, u have to drive ard an hour a day to make sure ur car battery is fully charged. Otherwise like me, get a few high capacity 3S lipo packs and charge it at home and swap it everyday.

Do you have a blackvue ?
It seem the replacement from Korea still heat up very fast even though the video is very sharp.
It will soon kill the cam.

Yes. I have not one but two Blackvue DR400 running in my car since Nov 2011. Both still give me sharp n clear pictures. This Blackvue DR400 cannot be used as a surveillance camera, only as a driving recorder. Means only when start car, it records.

All korean car cams runs hot, ard 55degrees to 60+degrees. But so far, only Blackvue DR400 will overheat and cause its lens to be blur. So dont use it as a surveillance cam. Use it as a driving recorder.

                    I am using :

                    Finevu CR300 - Front 24/7 surveillance cam
Blackvue DR400 - Front driving recorder
Blackvue DR400 - Rear driving recorder

                    In the storeroom :
                    Two china car cam
                    Xdriven DRS1100PRO
                    DOD-tec F500HD
                    DOD-tec F900LHD
                    DOD-tec GSE580

All in working condition. Will activate them when driving a rental car or use as home surveillance cam.

U have to know what u buying and for what purpose, just like buying a new heli, plane or boat.

Hi Adrianli, do you park inside or outside? I've been in the market for one of these things for a while, but I never bought because I park my car outside and I have been worried that it will get hot.

Mostly park under shelter. Weekends when going flying/boating site, unsheltered.

Thanks bro. Now i understood. This blackvue cannot be use 24/7. And i like your idea of using lipo as portable.
                            Thanks
